Fulljack, 01 Jun 2018let me correct you a lil bit. in GPU, cores doesn't mean... moreWhy would it not matter because it's parallel? There are reasons that nvidia has so many cuda cores. You need to be able to generate frames as quickly as possible and offload tasks to all of the cores to do it as quickly as possible. In phones it's likely not too helpful as they are likely not being targeted as you want as many customers as possible. But if these are targeting laptops and known as codename snapdragon 850 then they will be helpful. Even directX 12 being leveraged will allow multiple cpu cores to talk to the gpu. Before vulkan mantle and dx 12 only 1 cpu core ever talked to the gpu. Kind of funny.

Just cuz you don't like the design of the phone you think there's no point to buying phones? Well maybe we should stop inventing new things, bcz what's the point. Someone on the internet is gonna think it's garbage. Just sit in a corner wait for the inevitable doom.
Secondly. These aren't meant for phones! Maybe that wasn't clear from that comment. But they are meant for laptops. It's not for gaming on a phone! It's meant for laptops which are thinner, lighter, faster, longer battery life, quieter and cooler than normal laptops. These are meant for the SD1000s of the future. Laptops that can edit 8k videos. Laptops that can run apps/games written for win32. Laptops that are a much much better option than shitty ultrabooks. And the biggest problem for ARM laptops is powerful GPU, which has now arrived.
Cheer up mate. Life ain't all bad.

Manhurt, 01 Jun 2018Of course. The next Mediatek X wil be 7nm SoC.
Even more... morelet me correct you a lil bit.
in GPU, cores doesn't mean jackshit because it's mostly parallel anyway. the point is to have higher bandwidth, wider pipelines, etc. while still keep the power efficiency in check due to mobile nature. just look at SD 845, it's iGPU (Adreno 630) are only dual core but beat the others by years ahead both in peak and sustained performance.
and also, Redmi Note 3 use SD 650 which has Adreno 510 iGPU

If the core will be configured to score the same as current year champs, the afformentioned efficiency is achieved. Pushvto the peak and thec romised preformance is gained. (I prefer preformance)

Hmm.... a "clean" A75 at 2.8 GHZ claims 2150 points... (since Kryo 385G is 15-20% better)
So A76 would reach... 2900 points? At peak 3 GHz and 7 nm...

Even more, Mediatek might be use The new PowerVR's "Furian" Architecture at 7nm (From 28nm on "Rogue") + Newest 7nm CPUs from ARM, it is might be beast.
https://www.imgtec.com/powervr/graphics/furian/
Even PowerVR GT7400 (4 cores) can beat Mali G-71 MP20 (20 cores) frame rates, peoples still thinks the Mediatek X30's GPU is weak.

I have EXP on PowerVR G6430 (Zenfone 2) and is can comparable with Adreno 509. (Redmi Note 3)

After hearing these claums, I think the older chipsets are way better in terms of battery efficiency than these newer ones because the higher the performance of a phone needs to be done, the higher the power will consume. Which is to say, the battery drains more quickly than the old chipsets.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2018Microsoft and Qualcomm are working for a version of Windows... moreI always wanted a phone that can run desktop Win32 games (Postal 2 and Soldier of Fortune 2). Today we only have Dosbox emulators with unplayable speed.
The future is sad, because there will not be any phone with removable battery and proper design anymore (proper design = non-glass body, no curved screen edges, no notch, ...). So the future phones (all phones released after LG V20) are worthless garbages. Therefore it won't matter if they release a phone that can run Win32 games.
Today we have GPD Win 2, but it's totally useless because it has non-removable battery. Therefore it is as if it did not exist. If it had removable battery, I would have already bought one.
