I really love my blackberry. It does email, it does websites, it does everything I need it to do. I have an ipad for other the randomness but the ios with the touch screen is very slow for typing messages and emails. Nothing beats a good old physical qwerty phone. Keep going RIM! your new phones look excellent. Can't wait to see their new qnx phones. should be interesting.

RIM is in a good position! If they can get the price right, the mid-range market can be their turf. BIS is great particularly for markets outside USA, I am in South Africa and I see everyone got a Blackberry mostly from Nokia. I hate anything Android, not because it is bad, just because there is a new android phone everyday, someone who bought Galaxy S would feel like they are using very old technology, too many releases, iphone, well its coming under pressure from Samsung, iphone 5 could be the beginning of a downfall. Eventually all developers cant go Android or iOS, the apps will flood then what? I am going to learn programming apart from Finance, I want a piece of the unsaturated market.

i think blackberry should look around and see what other have in their gadgets equivalent to their price band, who will buy a blackberry for 35 k when one gets all the functions and even more in any other company for less than half their price

the bold 9980 might change gears for RIM.It flaunts a striking new design(metal cladded) with the new os7. It will draw attention but not for long ,if they dont continue trends like this!

i think the shapes and logistics of blackberry is not facsinating at all, it will be a more reasonble thing if they can develop a wide range of shape design, when the bb 9800 was launched it was not the best looking phone but the idea was after the palm pree, and when the new torch news was out i thought it will be very sleek phone, i suggest they need to rebrand their designs, its not attractive, i bet if there is no instance msging facility (bbm) it would be a worse case for bb by now. i was expecting the torch to remain the same but thinner and sleeker with more vibrant screen resolution, flash support, better camera, but wat do u get a torch screen phone with track pad....come on, blackberry!!

Had a a Bold, shoddy build quality. The cases they supply actually damage the keyboard and trackpad by putting too much pressure on them. Needed 2 new trackpads and a new keyboard in the 5m i had it.

Oh, and theres the fact that you have to pay for PDF readers, dont get free sat nav, and have a simply awful appstore.

All of these much better AND FREE on Android, Iphone and even Nokias!

THATS why they got awful results, taking the customer for granted. Their gimmicks from years ago are now commonplace , and mostly bettered, by the other brands now.

Id never buy a BB again. Seems to only be useful for BBM if you are a rioter in the UK!!!!

Blackberry is not widespread and yet they want to compete against Nokia, chances are Blackberry will flat again.

rim like nokia was slow to react to iphone and look where both are right now. samsung like htc was quick to react and they also have an edge coz apple ordered some of their parts from samsung so samsung have an idea what apple is going to do next thus giving them a heads up. no wonder iphone is tryng to find new supplier and dump samsung.

I don't get why they can't just adopt Android and then build all the Blackberry apps (like BBM) as proprietary. That way they can differentiate themselves from the Android hordes and they'll still have access to tons of apps for their users.

Blackberry will always have a market once the US Government, international Governments and businesses favours it over other brands I.e. FIPS certification etc still untouched as the #1 smartphone for security and emails and once that remains constant RIM will always be here! Its the most effective model for reliability, performance and productivity.

and i think it would go down further next year.
RIM has decided to move their plants to malaysia, the country which is known for its bad QC. and it will affect the image of RIM in a whole...

except for iphone makers no one can afford to be arrogant in mobile phone market, RIM has failed to realise this they have not been able to give something as basic as front camera and they have fancy prices. arrogance costs business they will surely understand this but too late.

Not surprised about the Playbook. Great machine and very powerful, but it's like Apple trying to launch the iPad without and any compatible apps.. or the Apple brand image!
I disagree with those that say it's not about the software. Look at Windows Phone 7 - it works great but unless they sort out the support it's destined to be an also ran. At the moment it seems the Blackberry are mainly used by business and the young who text and message a lot.. and we know how fickle the young are..

It used to be that companies were buying them. Cannot see the reason to buy one myself. And other phones to emails great.
