Geric.770, 14 Jun 2018Huawei is actually improving their timely updates over the years.Oh really? So why is my Huawei Mate 9 still on Android 7. 0, miui 5.0.1 and the November 2017 security patch?

LG Superfan, 13 Jun 201860% more power with 30% less power drain? I will take this ... moreit will not change the benchmark score, but some videos on youtube, it shows much powerful than 845.

Most likely just gpu driver updates to force reduced texture render / AA / color bit / etc, override game setting. It DOES improve performance / efficiency but will result noticeable degraded visual quality unless they use per-app setting.
Or, they successfully enforcing fp16-int16 or fp8-int8 instead regular fp32-int32 resulting in UP TO 2x or 4x performance respectively. Iirc Mali gpu's flexible 128bit register can be used as 2x64 or 4x32 or 8x16 or 16x8 fp/Int unit. Most game can't use half precision computation atm

YoloBS, 14 Jun 2018And some people thought only stock android get timely update.Huawei is actually improving their timely updates over the years.

Sadly, they only support Huawei and Honor devices running Kirin chipsets. :(

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2018Oh, even my old Mate 9 gets it. Nice. The Mate 9 was a beast when released, nice to know its still getting supported

And some people thought only stock android get timely update.

Will p9 get this new update? Because well, I don't think we will get oreo for p9

kupfernigk, 13 Jun 2018The simplest explanation would be that graphics processing ... moreThen why not have them ultra overclocked in the first place? Why ultrabook processors have a lowed clock rate than desktop models? Wouldn't a 6GHz Core i7-7Y75 have 2x the battery life of a regular one?

Tech does not work like that, or else the Pentium 4 would have been the most battery-efficient processor of its era. And believe me, Intel beleived hard in NetBurst. But it didn't worked out. Consumed more power despite extremely higer clock rates which, by your logic, should have given an astonishing battery life

huawei is notorious for making fake claim. remember when they claimed that the 970 will be more powerful than the a11 and will be more power efficient? It cant even beat the sd835 watts per watts.

                        Mimicking zenfone 5's AI Boost?

Anonymous, 13 Jun 2018Hum, 60% more performance and 30% less power usage? Usually... moreThe simplest explanation would be that graphics processing speed increases 60% but power consumption increases slightly. Thus any job completes in only 67% of the time and the energy needed to complete the job is only around 70% as great. Over a period doing the same mix of jobs, there will be a 30% power saving simply because the jobs are completing faster.

i will look at it as the performance increase would have a reduced power consumption, than it used to be, by the percentage they said. Still consumes more power, but less by 30% than before.

Its all over youtube now, the Gpu Turbo tech makes Mali GPU in Kirin 970 Honor Play performs as fast as Adreno in Snapdragon 845 on benchmark and sometimes even better!

A new discovery on the software side for them to catalyst it? Interesting.

60% more power with 30% less power drain? I will take this with a few pinches of salt and it would be appreciated if gsmarena updates benchmark scores after the update to confirm it

                                  August for me :)

Andy, 13 Jun 2018"a boost mode for the Mali cores that increases performance... moreIts nor a mode that turns on, its a complete overhaul of the way the software interacts with the hardware. Because they control the hardware, they can optimise in the lower end software. Unlike Google for example thst has to make android run on adreno, powerVR and Mali. And all of those have a ton of models...
