Samsung is only doing what Apple as got away with for ages,Over Pricing there iPhones,so if Apple can get away over pricing there phones, then the rest will do the same,2018 will be a very weak Sales market of phones,as people are staying loyal to the phones they have got use too because they can"t afford a new one,Sim Deals are a lot cheaper than Phone contracts and offer better options, some regulation should have been brought in to stop Apple Over Pricing there phones but then Apple would struggle

That's what happens when you overprice your crappy midrange devices.

Remember when note series was packed with all the bestest and newest tech, then S series launched few month later using same stuff? Now they just slap an s-pen on it make screen 0.1 larger and call it note. Few month later S phone comes out with barely better specs from previous S series. Remind you of any other company, eh? Saturated market with their overpriced A. Bunch of J series that cannot compete with Huawei in terms of value and performance. Then there's C line-up also...
I hope we'll see more Chinese brands here in UK, as a lot if these seem to be very well spect smartphones, (innovative in terms of design - under screen fps, screen to body ratios, camera placements ) nice and slim design with appropriate battery sizes at much more competitive prices.

Samsung's build quality and software updates suck. Only design is beautiful.

I do see the lose of interest in Samsung products. Basically, overpriced and subpar internal specs. They really need an overhaul on all the midrange models. Keep up with the trend. Start using the more powerful Snapdragon chipsets like 636, 660, & 710 on more devices. Just introducing infinity display, superamoled, rear fingerprint sensor but still low power exynos chipset not gonna do it anymore. They should try releasing some notch phone too. Seem like the chinese market loves notch. They can always opt for plastic build and LCD display. No need for overpriced metal or glass or pricey amoled screen. And most importantly, put usb c please, dear Samsung. Samsung really trying to against the trend but it seem to backfire on them. Oh, well. Damaged is done. Let mr. stubborn in samsung handle themselves. We got nothing to lose anyway. Their business not mine.

Dear gsm arena do not give to much good wind if samsung with snapdragon 845 with that perfomance cpu...the sale will not give much profitable number as they wish.

Same, boring cycle of overpriced products, while perfectly optimal options with reasonable prices are on the markets. Some of them way better anyway.

Of course people opt for others.

Because Chinese companies are on the rise of selling budget friendly phones. What now, Samsung?

Here in the Philippines, Samsungs (specially the ones sold by the official store) don't come down in price that much. In fact aside from a few specials during the pre-order period, the official store is still selling the S9 series at the introductory price. Heck even their S8 series are still selling for what they sold for when they were launched. And IMHO that's why they can't sell as many S9 series. Well that combined with what the article said. VIVO and Oppo are popular brands here. So is Huawei.

Samsung is starting to get out of touch with the market. They are relying on their brand recognition too much. Releasing midrange phone at premium pricing —when competion are offering almost same feature set for less— are slow and painful harakiri. Not to mention, those low-cost competition are very aggressive in marketing and their tech are catching up such as state-of-the-art cameras and crazy but interesting bezeless design.

Samsung has the capacity to bring down cost since they have their in-house market leading AMOLED and mobile chipset. Keep your act together Samsung and be competitive. But it seems they wont with the release of head scrathingly expensive A and J series 2018 as competition gobble their market share with near flagship releases at that price point.

Release the Active range everywhere, not just USA. Oh, and sort the tiny batteries. Make them a mm thicker, and you will reap the rewards when you have space for a proper battery.
