to be honest I was apple through and through. On having so many problems just recently, including losing all my data when connecting to itunes for the 3rd time in as many months I will be happy for the change when the w is delivered tomorrow I am going to give it a chance as there is no real reviews on it yet and it looks similar to a 3gs SO is it a fake 3gs or a new contender, only time will tell

Geo, 02 Oct 2011This Samsung phones are getting uglier each day!Agreed! I'm not a Apple fan, but Samsung could learn something from them, design wise. They use too much shiney black plastic. That Galaxy line makes me puke just looking at them.

The "crappy" androids help raise awareness of the Android brand; until recently, MS were shooting themselves in the foot by limiting the diversity of WP7 devices. The only truly different one was the HD7 Pro. Nokia, however, might be able to change that.

I showed you comparison photographs of Bada, which is TouchWiz, and stock Android, which is not. The similarities are very easy to spot. Yet, you go on and on about TouchWiz, its evolution from Omnia I to Omnia II to Bada, and how original the design is. Yet, somehow, this "original" design has quite a striking resemblance to Android.

Is there no more originality? Microsoft is an old wreck and even worse it's enforcing comunist ideas into their phones like no customization, that's just bs, why should any one have the same sht when you can personalise your phone?

Go look at older devices with TouchWiz that existed before Samsung went all out on Androids. Omnia I's contact list evolved to be Omnia II's then to Wave's. Clear lineage of UI design. And TouchWiz is quite original despite mixed bag of opinions on its appeal.

I gave you comparison shots of Bada and vanilla/stock Android, NOT of a TouchWiz-customized Android. Can't you see that Samsung have lifted elements off Android, rather than come up with their own design? And, regarding having no idea about what Bada UI is like, I've used the S8500 Wave for a good part of a year.

AnonD-17348, 27 Sep 2011The entire point of my discussion was Samsung not having or... moreExactly, and I'm saying you have no idea how Bada UI is like, nor do you know what I'm talking about. That's why you keep saying it's just a rip-off of Android, and making up stories about how I talked about "how well Bada works". Bada is a different OS with its own ecosystem and UI, just with similar skin. But the thing with skins is that Samsung can apply it on any OS they want. TouchWiz was original until the similar icons in 3.0 version which is changed in 4.0. They were using TouchWiz on both Symbian and WM6.5 phones. WM6.5 copy Symbian? Symbian copy WM6.5? No. But did Omnia HD UI look very similar to Omnia II UI? Yes.

If you haven't noticed, all Samsung phones for quite some time had their own line of design. The main elements of their design--"quadrangle" middle/home button with 2 buttons on its sides--have been there since number pad phone era.

(Take a look at D800 with chome finish around the edge along with the elements I mentioned from above)

They only got banned in Germany and Netherlands, Tab 10.1 in Australia. What's really funny is that while SGSI and iPhone 3G/S might be worth arguing over for the icon and trade dress, Tab 10.1 is NOTHING like the iPad except for the fact that it's a tablet and it's super thin. You can't even mistake those two even if you are tech illiterate or even blind. If Tab 10.1 is getting banned for "similar look and feel" it's safe to say that the entire lawsuit is Apple's outrageous greed game.

You would've thought they'd come up with their own design for an OS they'd built up entirely from scratch, but instead, they took the "easy way out" and lifted design ideas off Android.

If there is one thing that will take from Android's market share in 2012, it will be the Nokia + WP7 combo, in my opinion.
