This is a flagship model with a new OS that boasts an innovative UI which is probably going to be imitated in numerous ways. It has a camera that is only rivalled by N8, beautiful original design in a rock solid construction. Do you expect all this to retail for less? Street prices of older models aside -should be obvious- this is what flagship models cost. Deal with it.
And excuse me but what is it with the overhype of dualcore? Do we realise that Gingerbread(FYI Android for phones) doesn't even support multicores, Samsung's proprietary software allows the use of the other core here and there, but no app can use two cores. The speed difference between SGS and SGS2 is mostly down to the forementioned 16-year-olds whom hacked SGS' filesystem. The funny bit about all this is, that N9 actually excels in multitasking.
As reported, N9/MeeGo is smooth as vanilla ice with the hardware it has. What if manufacturers of Android phones need to put different hardware in their devices? Shouldn't you be complaining to Samsung/ZTE/Whatever to put a proper OS on their phones?
When it comes to developers, Maemo/MeeGo has one of the most dedicated communities out there. Geeks love it for it's openess, and this is the kind of developers you wan't your apps to be developed by. The predecessor N900 is still going strong, and is probably the only phone from it's era that still stacks up against the phones of today.
No, N9 won't sell nowhere near as well as something like SGS, I doubt Nokia even tries that. N9 is something completely different.

As much as i am a fan of Nokia and my N8, i don't get what the fascination is with the N9? I paid £320 (€368) for my N8, when it was released last year.
They are charging £520 (€600) for the 16GB N9 in the UK, i cannot for the life of me, understand how they come to think it's worth £200 (€230) more .. and that's not even a 64GB version!!
It may have a nice GUI etc etc .. but it definitely doesn't justify the price. Anybody that purchases one of these will be buying a little piece of history, rather than a new piece of technology.

[deleted post]i'm thinking that it's you are the one that being like an overly sensitive kids.. gsm arena had been called names before, back then it's iphone fanboy, and now samsung fanboy? you guys just can't take critics, i've seen some articles that jokes around about samsung misplacing some decorations in their shops.. what will you call that?
gsmarena judgement is based on their expectation about this device, you can clearly see that they were as excited as you when this device is announced back then, where is the biased you were mentioning before? sgsII is using android which already had a good environment for the dev to support them with numbers of apps.. meego is not, that's a fact. accept that. sgsII also is a hot topic back then for their new s amoled + screen, dual core processor, one gigs of ram.. with that kind of hardware, i'm guessing they not objected with the announced price..

Bailey, 27 Sep 2011i dont mean to be rude but you are dreaming this will not b... moreUmmm... I said it will beat Android once it starts to get support... And I like N9 because its Meego OS and not because its Nokia... You are not realising the potential of this OS when you say its got nothing original.. So what if Nokia does not support it??? Its an open-source OS, remember??? It will continue to get updates from Intel and many others... And no, I dont fancy Nokia.. I am much happier with Apple than buying Nokia with Symbian or WP...

Are you comparing this with SGS2!
SGS2 is way way better than this in evey aspect so it should have higher price and it has unique specs... But this phone is outdated and expensive and dead OS
SGS2 is the greatest and don't compare it with this thing you may compare it with Galaxy Ace even Galaxy Ace is better

AnonD-20221, 27 Sep 2011You are wrong... Damn wrong... Updates for Meego will conti... morei dont mean to be rude but you are dreaming this will not beat
Android. apart from people in tech blogs who has heard of Meego?
this is not a winner there is only about 250 apps to put on the handset. you may be able to run Android apps, now stop for a minute and sales pitch that to the general public. somebody might buy it on the strength that it is a Nokia handset and it it looks pretty but apart from that there really is nothing orginal about this handset to be honest if you fancy buying a Nokia handset not running WP7 you are better off with symbian i dont really trust Nokia when they say that they are going to support this handset. if i am wrong i will buy you personally a N9 handset

And btw, the great majority of the public are not geeks so customizations means little.
