People will get bored with swipe UI (Left- social hubs including contacts, mid- application list and right- latest tasks). I have noticed that maximum customization keeps people happy as they think they can do much with their phone. The factor here the most important is mee-go might do not get much support for updates. Nokia needs to stick with the one best OS and should developed it's app market, Currently SG2 seems me the best in every aspects as android Google has the brainiac software engineers, developing latest techs, giving faster updates. Lets see what Nexus prime and iPhone 5 will bring to the techie users.

AnonD-21645, 27 Sep 2011And so you see the fundamental problem with the N9... Th... moreThe Meego/Maemo fans are more excited about the N9 than Nokia fans, cos it's Meego OS.
As for Android, or rather Samsung, there are people who have used it & decided to go back to Nokia(like me)

N9 'competing'? LOL, they are not competing, it's limited units. Those who want, get it, those who prefer established OS & what they're familiar with, then dont

AnonD-20221, 27 Sep 2011You are wrong... Damn wrong... Updates for Meego will conti... moreHahahahaaa.... since when is Meego true open source? Look in the dictionary what open source really means, cuz it doesnt mean, that others have full access to see the OS from the inside and are able to develop better for it, thats not open source.

            Too expensive for:
-One core processor and not good GPU.
-New OS (Full of bugs and no much apps).
-No Support in future (Elop admitted by himself).
-No MicroSD (Now there is 64GB SD card).
-No 1080P (Most new phones have this feature).
            -Will release too late.
And most important it's Nokia and they usually don't give much of quality, I have I9000 more than a year and no problem appears while my friend has N8 every once and a while there is a problem he spent too much on it because he ordered it out of the country.
BTW Android planing to stop Android apps to run on Meego.
            * I hope Gsmarena give free speech they don't have to delete everything against Nokia

              1. DUAL CORE IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU SAID, because a dualcore needs less energy for the same work, cuz a single core working at 100% needs way more energy like 2 cores working at 65%, because the energy consumption rises exponentially and not konstantly, get it?

2.A stupid virtual machine lets you run some apps from android, but by far not all and not the really heavy stuff and the Ovi store you are talking about offers only apps for MeeGo, there are no Symbian Apps in there, so what he said is actually true and you should first look at how great android apps work, because i tell you, they will start, but run really well, definetly not, it will lag as hell, if it works.

Admitted for now, only Intel and to some extent Nokia are backing it but as I said, with more love from other manufacturers, it will beat Android... As for Andoid apps bit I was telling the other guy it has got a number of apps.. Another guy said its a bonus.. Its correct.. Its an added bonus.. And no.. Most of Android apps can run on phones with lower specs and configurations.. Thats because most of Android phones are mid range and budget phones and very few apps and games are optimised for dual cores.. This is the problem of fragmentation.. Hence I would always prefer a true open source OS like Meego...

i have the N900 and nokia promised to support the phone but never did. Maemo stopped developing as they had no funding by Nokia making the N900 a big flop. But it is still a great phone to use with its OS but lack of development made the handset boring to use after a while... i feel the same will happen with the N9.. Nokia need to spend more money marketing this new phone otherwise it will be the end for Nokia..

I'm sorry my but are u drunk? Are u telling me that a single core processor running at 1ghz would consume more power than two identical processors under clocked to 500mhz? Is that what you're telling me? Go hug a transformer bro.

AnonD-252, 27 Sep 2011MeeGo is "OpenSource", but without anyone respons... morePerhaps if you did a little more reading and less trolling you would know that nokia has said, OVER AND OVER AGAIN that they would continue to provide necessary support and updates for the n9 through out the life time of the device. i.e atleast till 2013. Are you telling me that a bunch of teens developed the ui in the n9?

There are less than 15 android devices with better hardware than the n9 and less than 5 of them are currently available in stores. Do you mind naming a few games on the android market that the n9 doesn't have the hardware to run. As for simply buying an android, potential n9 users aren't buying it because it can run android apps, thats just a bonus. The n9 supports QT so any apps coming to any of nokia's non windows phone devices (s40, symbian or meego) would definitely be ported to it.

For all those who are concerned about support to N9 by Nokia.Next update to N9 will come just after initial reactions (3-4 months) time.check the link

                              http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/09/27/nokia-n9-apps-and-software-support/

Also N9 is not completely based on Meego, but on Harmattan,QT and Meego. It is being Nokia's QT flagship, which means all apps based on QT will run on N9 and also the updates will be easy to roll out.

This phone should cost more than iphone and super android phone in the market. Just like when iphone and android first came out. Do you all agree with me? From video, the phone is good. It's a new technology (meego) although technology wise especially on touch screen. Common people, it's swipe technology give it a chance to sell at higher price. I don't like the micro sim technology, its ridiculous since normal sim card phones exceed micro sim card phones.

AnonD-16394, 27 Sep 2011N9 doesn't require dual core because the OS is THAT great. ... moreAnd so you see the fundamental problem with the N9...

The fact that it has had to have "compatible with android apps" marketed with it (yet to be confirmed how fully functional that is) - as an android phone it is very much last year's model at top-end this year's prices...

If you want android you go for GS2 - not only is it free on contract - but also twice as powerful (with a far better screen)..

Dual core processing doesn't eat battery (as many have said here) - and for me - certainly it's not about the speed of the OS (although it does make android super fast) - it's little things like how quick web pages load, how smooth embedded videos look, the speed at which apps load, 1080p films are amazing on the GS2, the camera loads instantly and is ready to take pictures, and then of course there's the complete customisation of the interface - want it to look like Windows Mobile 7? No problem - want a weird a wacky interface that suits only you? No problem..

The N9 simply can't compete - it's carrying a dead OS (which is a shame, as from the reports it sounds fantastic) that will receive little support and I dare say, apart from the Nokia zealots buying it - it will disappear without a trace like the N8 did (which I thought was a shame, as it LOOKED amazing but again, Symbian is dying and the interface was shockingly slow and lacked support in both interface and apps)

I know people love Nokia like they love football teams, but it takes a stronger character to draw a line and say "I love Nokia, but I can see that what they're producing nowadays is overpriced and sub-standard... and as such, I'm not limiting my purchases to just them, I'm getting something that warrants and deserves the money I'm spending.."

Tough, perhaps, but it needs to be done...

I used to LOVE SonyE - loved them... they could do no wrong... but they haven't produced a phone that can match competitors in YEARS - they're slowly getting there (and I'll love the day I buy a SonyE phone again, and not a Samsung) but until they raise their game, I'm not buying something that is below par just because I have fuzzy feelings about the company...

AnonD-20221, 27 Sep 2011Look.. Neither of the 3 OSs have been tried by you.. Window... moreMeeGo is "OpenSource", but without anyone responsible for developing updates for all N9 users! It is actually better to have the large Google to develop Android because they have the resorces, many high-paid topclass engineers and software-developers..., so that Android can be developed a lot faster than MeeGo. MeeGo do not even have the full support of Nokia anymore and the MeeGo development only rely on mostly teens that spend their nights and weekends developing MeeGo, and without any large company behind the os-development it will be very hard for the end users to find good, "bugfree", updates after having searched all over Internet trying to find them.
I can not buy the argument that it will be possible to run Andoid-apps on MeeGo, because if you want to use Android apps and games then it is much better to simply buy an Android-phone, and many Android-games need a lot better hardware than N9 have, and with this gigantic price, cost, for each N9 phone you can easily find many top dual-core Androids with better specs on everything!

I think, better wait for next N8 (801), first I am a little bit upset with the absence of HDMI, second is the usage of Micro SIM => I better bought iPhone if it use micro SIM, as it is impossible using the same number into micro SIM slot as the promo system barrier to modified normal SIM into micro sim. If I cut it, it would be probably useless, as I heard Nokia put different policy about using micro sim into sim nor sim into micro sim system. Third is absence of micro sdhc card slot. 64 GB internal storage is fine, but transfering video file not as easy as if we take out those sdhc and put it into card reader in computer.
