salmander, 27 Sep 2011is the os that great? why doesn't it take 1080p hd videos??... moreyou are so wrong its not even funny
first, 1080p videos from android phones are worse than 720p of nokia n8. but they take more memory space
dual core or single core are not the only parameters that determine power usage. yes, dual core are power efficient, but that only means they do not use twice the power. meego, symbian ios and wp7 use harware accelerated gui, so they use their gpu-s for ui, camera, video playback. android does not, its gpu is pretty useless except for gaming. the cpu in nokia n8 is used when needed, android uses it all the time, thats why it overheats
nokia store has everything a normal, rational person would need. there are things missing, but i miss some of nokia apps on android e.g.
android apps on meego - who knows? maybe nokia will not support it officialy, but the linux community will surely bring alien dalvik to end-users

      but, the pricing is high

for me i have no problem to buy it even if they will not support meego for year , because it's an OPEN SOURCE so i could make apps for it and i'll never get sick of it ! that's why i love N9

Somebody is actually challenging the very laws of physics and electricity.......... Dual core consumes less battery???????????? ha haha... great joke..

About the pricing, Everybody in 2007 went mad and cried out loud and slapped abuses at Apple when it released the first iphone , with a standard hardware.. and priced it off-the-roof......
So, the N9 will be a hit, no matter with pricing.

AnonD-16394, 27 Sep 2011N9 doesn't require dual core because the OS is THAT great. ... moreis the os that great? why doesn't it take 1080p hd videos?? if its so great why is it taking only 720p hd videos?? i wish people would stop spewing out that standard ridiculous statement "the os is sooo light and dreamy and creamy that it can run on the processor you find in ancient digital watches" !!

and dual core wont deplete the battery life faster by gawd! its been proved underclocking a processor leads to lesser power consumption than overclocking it (obviously) or running it at stock speed... THEREFORE it means a dual core processor running with either or both cores at an underclocked speed (or one core off and the other on etc etc) will consume lesser power than a single core running at stock and will also theoretically be faster than a single core in spite of the lower clock speed....!!!!

and nokia store sucks... if the 3rd party tools get thru to us, then we'll get android apps running but thats only IF they release it to the public and not to the OEM's only...

AnonD-17636, 27 Sep 2011everything form nokia is overpriced these days. For this cos... moreLook.. Neither of the 3 OSs have been tried by you.. Windows 8??? Think about Mango for now.. Meego is truly open-source unlike Android where it is tied to Google's release dates for updates.. And moreover Android's apps can be run on a Meego-powered device.. So dont build castles in the air and dismiss this wonderful OS.. With a little more love from manufacturers and people, its surely going to be one of the best OSs out there...

Oh hello Nokia. You're still here? I didn't see you in the corner flailing from Symbian to Maemo to Symbian 3 to MeeGo to Windows 7 to who-knows-what. Choose a platform, a modern one, with apps & stick with it for a while. Otherwise, just go out of business. This slow burn is killing me.

I don't see why buy this iPod-looking N9 when Nokia declared their future is with Windows Phone ?!

This device is another market research experiment paid by users (which is actually a brilliant idea). It serves the same purpose as N900.

I honestly believe this would also be the last MeeGo phone :)

                                  Oh dear, oh dear...

The problem we have here is not that it's going to bomb like the N8, or the fact that it's going to be as poorly supported (by developers) as something like the Bada OS...

                                  BUT

Nokia still haven't got their heads around basic pricing...

What you have here is a phone that, no matter how snazzy the OS is, will have very, very few apps (thus immediately limiting appeal / takeup) a single core 1ghz processor (already superceded by many phones) yet the pricing of an iphone 4....

Why would somebody buy this phone at that kind of price for such limited value?

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see good-looking phones with different OSs on them, but this is absolutely going to bomb because of a severe lack of value for money here...

                                  :(

If Nokia continue this poor pricing strategy with their new Windows phones - they've had it...
