MiA1 updated to 8.1.0 on June 30, lost all SMS. Don't know of other damages. I had backup dt. June 18 (my own - Google does not backup SMS!), restored; I lost 12 days of SMS (not bad!). But the Questions are: Can we TRUST Xiaomi/Google/Android any more? Has Xiaomi/Google/Android said sorry to us? Has Xiaomi/Google/Android at least put up some notice informing the users regarding serious bug in Android One Oreo 8.1.0?? SHAME

The update was available for my phone, but it got removed, I guess Xiaomi are solving the issues and will resume the update later on..

Xioami has been very consistent with updates regarding the Mi A1, there hasn't been a month without an update for this phone.
The Mi A1 is a very decent phone for it's price.
As somebody that owns the phone the biggest issue I have with it is the average stock Camera App and Xiaomi's insistence of not wanting to activate the Camera2Api on an Android One phone. I don't know what Google let them release an Android One phone that lacks an Api introduced with Android 5.

Which nokia pho... moreI can its Nokia 5 2017(cheaper then mi a1) & Nokia 6 2017 is already on 8.1 few months ago and also soon will get 8.1 on Nokia 2 which is a entry level phone as right now Nokia 2, Oreo 8.1 is on beta stage that users can test on Nokia beta labs and it is working smoothly on my Nokia 2.
What you can expect from Nokia have fulfilled their promise, you remember all phone will get OREO!?

Manab, 01 Jul 2018MiA1 is sold as Anroid One phone promising TWO year updates... moreHe assumed that those who didn't pay a flagship price should accept whatever lousy update by manufacturer, MiA1 is not exactly cheap base on the specs.
i don't any big issue for Nokia Oreo update, so is shouldn't be Google problem, if it is so Nokia will suffer same fate.
This is clearly Xiaomi problem.

After the update lost all messages. What's next ? With Android P update you will loose all photos and contacts ? These updates mess up started after famous poll (MIUI vs stock Android).

I want to add further: if you don't update in time, Xiaomi denies you the update and you have to wait for quite some time to be offered again for the update, causing more delay. I wish to record here My low ratings for Xiaomi's very poor aftersale Services.

I own MiA1 and updated to 8.1.0 (yesterday, 30/06/18 - too early) and suffered the consequences. I lost all SMS stored on the phone (and only God knows, what else; Xiaomi, Android/Google know nothing!!). Despite their disclaimers about any responsibilities, is their ANYTHING we can do to make these IRRESPONSIBLE people behave? OR is it that these IT/Computer/Smartphone sectors are protected (by the laws) from any damage claims by their clients/users? THEY PROSPER WHILE WE DESPAIR !!!

People say they prefer their country then why sell out of china ,sell in your country and be happy,they are a communist country and their thinking is just like that,useless and racist,they think they are superior to every other place in the world,they should actually be banned from rleasing phones globally if they cant support them
