Xiaomi on this Mi A1 are not too bad with their updates. Check samsung phone updates and you will waiting and hoping sometimes months at a time to get an update, my wife's new A8 is still stuck on 7.1.

In fairness ALL manufacturers have various issues/ bugs in their initial rollout of an OS update.
Always check for these before updating.
They should've done a better beta test.
Credit to GSMA for flagging this one up.
Hope you guys get those SMS's back.

People are complaining because Xiaomi promised fast and timely updates and never delivered. Many people who would have otherwise not bought a Xiaomi phone bought the A1 for Android one and faster updates.
One cannot justify a cheaper phone referring to a flagship. And in a flagship, you are paying for the specs, features and gimmicks and if the manufacturer didn't promise for updates then one cannot find fault with them.

The last Oreo 8.0 update took 4-5 months to get it fixed.
Those are not minor bugs, it's serious issue.

I can't understand what's the matter with Xiaomi that they don't simple enable camera2 api and EIS and also put a simple FM app since they put a Mi Remote app.

Gawd, what a bunch of whiney crybabies here. Xiaomi MiA1, a cheap midrange phone is getting the latest 8.1 update, MOST FLAGSHIPS which don't have any news on updating in the horizon, yet ya'll still complaining geez..
