Ok if they want to shut down their mobile segment that's ok but i can't imagine living in a world without a SONY store. I'd be depressed.

      I have been a long time SONY user since 2006 where SonyEricsson was the brand before these 2 companies split apart.
      Since that date, SONY is my favorite brand because of build quality & durability compared to Samsung & Nokia, these last 2 failed me may times with their crap products & software.
      I've been buying SONY flagships ever since, starting from SE K800, K850, then SONY Satio, Xperia S, Z, Z1, Z3, Z5 premium, & now I have XZ premium, all these devices are incredible, & never had a single problem with any! Heck, my daughter is still using my old Z1, & am still using my perfectly working Z3 dual & XZ Premium.
      There are several problems with SONY as a company:
      1- They have the crappiest marketing division ever, no proper advertisement compared to Samsung & many other companies.
      2- After sales management is worse
      3- No qualified customer support & maintenance teams
      4- The design, since Xperia S, SONY maintain the same thick design with thick bezels & top/lower chins, tho it was not a bit of a problem for me, I like SONY for having front facing speakers & I understand this feature comes with a price
      5- WiFi issues... still unfixed for many flagships regardless of release date or OS update
      6- SONY stopping OS support/update of older phones is a big disappointment & am wondering whether SONY is going to release Android P for my XZP.
      7- No wireless charging, no radio for some devices, no retina scanner, no face recognition!!
      8- SONY sticking with IPS LCD & not shifting to SuperAmoled is a disappointment. I like their 4K screen of the XZP but I think that's not enough compared to what other brands are offering.
      9- I feel like SONY hardware division is managed by a bunch of stupid stubborn personnel who's policy is " We'll stick to this policy, if the customers like it, ok.. if they don't .. we don't care" THIS NEED TO CHANGE. For God sake, are these guys blind? do they have any sense of competition with the Chinese/Korean brands that invaded the market with their crappy products?
      10- Their camera is still producing noisy granular pictures & they lack optimization in low light environment!! Heck, ASUS for example has taken SONY cam sensor & put it in their phones which produce a much better quality pics compared to SONY devices! doesn't this make SONY feel jealous, a bit ripped off or they have been laughed at! SONY can't even use their own technology well! instead, they remain pinned to the ground & did nothing about it while other companies are making a full benefit out of SONY's technology which is hilarious.
      11- No stereo speakers!!
      12- Small battery for a thick device, regardless of their 24 hrs life batteries, but with the growth of power hungry apps, this has to change.
      13- Side mounted fingerprint sensor need to vanish, it gives me a heck of a trouble trying to unlock my XZP with that sensor mounted on the side & there were many occasions where I had to restart my device, clean my sensor to get it to work properly.

      If SONY wants to compete with Huawei, Samsung, Nokia, Pixel, LG & many other names, they need a dramatic change in everything, starting from firing their old personnel, sales managers, marketing employees, service & maintenance employees..everyone & start from scratch. I think this is impossible at this point ... shutting down their smartphones division will be announced one day, globally.

        Sony future is as doomed as it could be. Outdated design, insane prices, lack of good cameras and stupid decision to put 4k screens and remove 3.5mm audio jacks, plus mediocre software with lack of features.

They are not putting the effort into advertisement or even proper releases that get the devices known and out in people's hands. On top of not putting much the potential effort of the company into the devices. It's such a shame knowing they could with extreme ease be so much more.
                      And as far as bashing comments. There are not many. Very few actually. And no more than exists on any other page for any other brand, device, or product.
                      The actual issue with Sony pages are extremist fans making up fake situations of hate because people say something that is not kissing Sonys feet and graveling. And then they turn around and actually make the negative comments themselves.

They may make the best sensors around but they can't optimize to have better pictures. Great for someone to tinker around for the correct aperture, light balance, shutter speed, etc., but not for the majority.

                            I am saying this because Sony needs to shape up - I was a buyer of their products, from Walkmans, Disc players, a ton of Bluetooth earphones, their 2G phones until 3G phones with proper signal services started. Sony attempted to create a "stylus" phone - Xperia Z Ultra whereby you can use an actual pencil to make half-baked line inputs - just terrible!

                            Now, they have hardly competed with the mobile sector. Their WF (Wireless Freedom) earphones are terrible in battery life, connection and sound quality. Their latest ones can only last 2.5 hours, whereas others are 5 to 7 hours per charge.

                            No compelling features to even talk about except to brag about 4k resolution and only works with 4k content - a movie can go as high as 15GB space needed. I mean, who wants to do that on a 5.7"+ screen?!?! It's a silly concept.

                            3D model scanning will only be for the very minimal of users to take advantage of. After creating all 3D portraits of people, then what?

                            I hope Sony succeeds in making better things. I want them to compete better so the industry is better for us consumers. At 20-30% off where I live, I don't even want to get any of the Sony products because they do not make sense.

                                Carol, 01 Jul 2018Well, xiaomi oppo mopoo gopo, have no customer service😉in my country you can find samsung, oppo, vivo, xiaomi, asus, etc service center in every city while sony is dead and already shutdown mobile division here because people in my country realise sony phone is shit (terrible after sales and service center, faulty device, dont have high resale value even xiaomi have much better resale value than sony phone, and many more)

                                      One factor would definitely be their marketing strategy, while most brands focus on advertising that they have the best camera, best screen, etc. Sony barely puts out any ads on how great their device can be, I don't see their ads when youtube videos are playing, it gives me the impression that they are not giving much effort in putting the word out, there is also that one issue with the other brands fans who consistently bash on the product in comment sections for their videos, articles, news, they practically discourage anyone that would potentially buy it, then there's the price too...
