Well this going nowhere since you to idolize Apple very much, I find difficult to go further with fanboys... At the end, in my experience I don't trust in any corporation, usually you dont get to the top by playing nice or to follow rules by the book.

          A) Tax planning is something all corporations do. They'd be idiots not to.
          B) Ireland was the ones caught giving tax benefits to a single corporation, which is what's illegal, and is why Ireland is now forced by the EU to reclaim the actual tax owed by Apple.
          C) It's COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT when we're discussing USER PRIVACY. It's not even like Apple have been hiding their tax planning, so it doesn't even fit the bill of "Apple being dishonest too".

          As for the congressional hearing, it's Google that was caught giving third-party access to user data in emails. GOOGLE. Not Apple. As there are only two players in the mobile field though, both CEO's are called to the hearing to find out about how each corporation handles user privacy in the matter. A congressional hearing is also not an indictment.

          So once again, Apple haven't been caught doing anything illegal or shady. And no, mass-collection of private user data isn't the future for hardware companies. There's market researchers and ANONYMOUS user statistics for that.

Data user is the currency of the future, not only serves for ads but to predict and analyze users preference and tastes... By the way you ignored completely the tax evasion case, as the proof that you can't trust 100% Apple.

              It's funny but Microsoft recommends 8gb of RAM to run Windows 10 but the base model has only 4. That means that Surface GO is only optimized for Windows 10 S. That also means that the model one should get is the 8 GB RAM which is 150 dollars more expensive. Add the keyboard which is necessary because Windows 10 is not a tablet OS and the minimum price goes up to 650 US dollars. Of course one can stay with Windows 10 S but then it won't be full windows 10.

                  So let me get this straight... You think that Apple is adhering to GDPR, and is tracking exactly who is a EU citizen and who isn't (which in itself would be a violation of GDPR as they haven't informed and received consent from users about storing this information), so they can secretly hoard data about all users who AREN'T EU citizen? Right, makes perfect sense.

                  And Apple is hoarding this data... for what purpose exactly? They don't serve an ad network, they only sell hardware. So what's the data for? That's a lot of expensive servers, storage and difficulty with figuring out who's a EU citizen so they don't accidentally secretly hoard data from the wrong person.

                  GDPR has become global because of its implications and huge fines. That's why you've probably seen a lot of mentions about GDPR even if you don't live in Europe.

                  The reason many corporations (Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Twitter, Instagram, etc) store a metric ton of user data is because their business model is to target advertisement against their users.

                  Apple isn't running an ad network. Apple sells expensive hardware.

                    What does Apple have to gain from gathering user data en masse?
                    It's extremely expensive to gather the amount of data that Google and Microsoft are gathering from their users, so as a corporation with shareholders they must be able to justify it with profits somehow. What is the justification?

                    And then let's look at what they have to lose from gathering user data without informing their users or getting consent.
                    GDPR in Europe would fine them the equal amount of 4 % of their annual turnover if they were found out to hoard user data without information or explicit consent. For Apple that would mean a fine of $9 billion, which can be repeated if they don't cease. Shareholders wouldn't like that.
                    And then you have Apple as a corporation, putting privacy and privacy concerns very high as a selling point. All that trust would be dead and gone. This is a corporation who is impressively transparent about operations (they even publish yearly transparency reports). Shareholders wouldn't like that.

                    So now ask yourself, what's more likely:
                    1) Apple, a corporation who is famous for having a ton of leaks about their operations and products, is secretly and illegally hoarding a ton of user data, without having a single whistle-blower call them out on it. They do this for no apparent reason, at great cost (servers and storage is expensive) and with great risk of loss of user trust and massive fines.
                    2) Apple aren't storing any user data other than what little they must store for legal reasons (such as card transactions, usernames and passwords), as they have nothing to gain from it and everything to lose. They are after all a hardware company.

Apple show what they want to the EU regulators, but the EU GDPR are enforce that region... outside of the EU is a fair game. How do you know that Apple can get away with it? Well look the Ireland tax affair, you can't trust them really, they are like any other corporation and that also applies to the user data.

                        $399 for the basic tablet
                        +99$ for the keyboard
                        +99$ for the pencil
                        Total of 597$ for a tablet with a 2 core Pentium and 4GB ram and 64GB storage. I think Microsoft shot themselves in the leg if they were aiming for the education market to compete with Apple-s 2018 ipad. Who is this tablet aimed for in that price range?
                        Also it will probably be 700 euro in Europe.

                              Read End User License Agreement and see how and what is Siri doing - it listen all the time and send it to Apple servers. Is it anonymous or not, knows only high level managers in Apple.

                                    About time an all! Thank god people didn't start buying the extremely-overly optimistically-overpriced surface pro etc. Even Apple can't get away with that crap. We need more solutions from them for the budget market. This kind of device will compete nicely against, budget laptops in that segment. It'll probably do documents, web browsing and basically anything outside of intensive tasks with ease and battery life.

                                      3:2 screen, giant bezels, no edge touch protection, fat, as still have pointless kickstand, $50 more expensive than iPad etc etc. Hardly a player.
