However under prolonged load Core i7 can perform better because it's cooled by fans in most cases and the peak performance can be sustained for much longer period of time. And this is important for a laptop because many processor intensive apps on Windows/MacOS require the chip to stay fast for more than 10 or 20 minutes, whereas in mobile SoC CPU starts to throttle within 5 minutes.
