the refurbishment/repair is only as good as the parts and the person changing them.
devices that have been dropped multiple times are the ones that will fail more often then not, due to small cracks in the bga solder balls that will grow over time after the drop that causes them.

Here on Earth, everything made by humans couldn't always be perfect, even more on a mass production scale. Sometimes a batch of production run could churn out defective products. It's on every manufacturer on every different scale, from Apple and Samsung to lesser known like DoGee etc. Heck, even cars and housings could be defective too.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2018"Redmi 2s had bad 4G signal and not so good camera, but tha... more... due to redmi being released with China-only 4G network support. Newer Xiaomi flagships have more international 4G bands support but midrange Redmis remain to have limited international 4G band support. The camera quality is not actually a 'defect'. Redmis entry level phones. Lower camera quality is expected.
"Mi4i had a yellow stein on half of the screen and it was hot as hell". Yellow stain on half of the screen all the time may be a problem but without further explanation, it's difficult to confirm what kind of LCD display priblem it is that only happens on half of the screen. Being 'hot as hell' is relative. Mediatek phones run hotter. Older phones with inefficient processors run hotter. It may be normal for that processor ser/model unless the 'hotness' causes the phone and battery to die. "Redmi Pro had Amoled burn inn (after 2 months)". Amoled burn in is normal. The degree of burn in is dependent on use. Heavy users who like to set brightness high are going to have accelerated burn in in the first few months. "Mi5 had HW and SW problems with network signal and camera module". Again, network signal can simply be network incompatibility. Software problems can be due to malware or failed software updates. A simple factory reset may solve it or flashing official firmware to remove malware may solve it.

Bad 4G signal is likely due to network band incompatibility. Incomplete 4G band support due to the Redmi being a Chi

            Percent out of what number?

A guy handed his 3 years working Galaxy SIII I9300 to his father in his 70's. Yesterday his social app was outdated and I swapped with latest version to work fine.

2012 + 3 years of tough working + changing the back cover + screen protector swap + 3 years of restless light working = His Galaxy SIII.

2015 was the year of the handset refurbishment if it failed which did not, as the article mentioned.

            3 years, Android JB 4.2, Exynos 4412, 32-bit, 2100mAh, 8/2MP f/2.6, 4.8" HD.
Works well, not too fast but fluent.
            No Software/Hardware issue.

2012-07-08 to 2018-07-13 equals to absolute 6 years of working and doing tasks.

If you call this phone second-hand and a phone which was found under the water after 2 years, then repaired with not genuine parts, the same; you must change words and views.

sammi, 14 Jul 2018most samsung devices dont have updates and yet is very lag.... moreconsidering you know so much about your s9 being laggy after 8 months of use which is literally impossible since the phone has been released in march, I would suggest you opt for a way less laggy iphone, since your beastie of a device seems to be too much for your brains refresh rate to handle.
on a normal use, my s8 is still in perfect condition, not lagging or heating up. But hey. ive only had the phone for a year and a half, I must be doing something very special to it to still have a 22h battery life on a single charge... agreed.
Buy a device you know how to use, and if you know you arent going to treat it well, you'd be better off with a metal cased phone, like one of the last 5 generations of iphones before the eights.

My relatives (2) have Xiaomi phones as well. No problems on their Xiaomi phones as well. I have 4 colleagues who have Xiaomi phones. One had a problem (phone did not charge anymore) while the other three had no problems at all. Overall, very good reliability considering the very low price of Xiaomi's. All phones are 1-3 year old models.

I have had mine since shortly after the launch and it still performs like new. It is an amazing phone and the best on the market right now.

i had 5 of Xiaomi phones, 4 had a problems:
Redmi 2s had bad 4G signal and not so good camera, but that isn't something that could be fixed, since it was MTK device.
Mi4i had a yellow stein on half of the screen and it was hot as hell, Redmi Pro had Amoled burn inn (after 2 months), Mi5 had HW and SW problems with network signal and camera module, and Mi6 was only one that was OK.
Thing with Xiaomi is...if you are from market where they are not officially available, you cant expect any help from them.
you are on your own....sand good thing is that f.e. it is easy and cheap to change screen on Redmi PRO yourself.
                    But why would you????
when you buy new device, at least you should get some kind of warranty!!!
                    but not from Xiaomi.
And top of that was MIUI.....no help of so ever from their support, only if you are lucky to have same problem as most other users, so they find solution and publish that on forums....
if there was problem with Mi cloud, or some other of their sw....well, good luck with that.

so, they are cheap...but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone outside China, Russia and India

Don’t care if Xiaomi phones are more prone to failures. I can replace a Xiaomi phone every 6 months and still save money compared to buying a Samsung yearly.

And I pity the end user in a damn if they do, damn if they don't situation.

They update, they get their phone slowed down and called out by people like you.

They don't update, they get prone to malware attacks and get accused of being a security threat to other "responsible users".

Blancco used to put iphone on the chart too. Not just android only. Why? Because iphone could be the second or the first on the chart. Why Blancco? Do you feel shame to put iphone and the android on the chart?

Hockeybro13, 13 Jul 2018How is this representative of the refurbished market? If so... moreIt's not representative in any way. The source website itself (Blancco) NEVER mentioned that their chart is indicative of smartphone durability given that no android phone models/release year were given. All android phones regardless of actual models or year of release were actually LUMPED TOGETHER by brand! How fair can that be to the Android brands who make numerous models from cheapest to expensive while lumping them all under one brand only? Proper representation is also questionable given that the geographical data was also not indicated; not normalized according to actual phone availability and market distribution. The credibility and motive behind the skewed data presentation is questionable. Why would they separate the iPhones from the Androids and rank them by model in a chart representation? Well clearly because if they did the iPhones like they did it with the Android phones, all iphones (that is, lumping together with the Android phones by brand only) it will obviously result to rank #1 for Apple's iphones in the chart with a HUGE percentage. It won't look nice for Apple. Separating the iphones and classifying them by brand/model will therefore make the percentages smaller and iphones look nicer while Android brands will look bad. As mentioned, GSMARENA wrongly interpreted the biased/un-normalized data presentation by interpreting it is some measure of phone durability or reliability when it clearly is not.
