Samsung is planning to merge the Galaxy S line with the Note one

Note has not been much different from the S series for quite some time, much so that I don't see the reason for a six-month gap any longer. I think this is a good idea, and with the savings in R&D, maybe they could lower the prices down a bit (or at least not raise them any higher!). Maybe the new X series is the reason why the Note series has not been at the forefront of tech for quite some time. If the X series is to be the bleeding edge model, I'm again excited to see what Samsung comes up with.

Seems like a good idea. I was waiting for the Note 8 and realised that it's just a galaxy S8+ with a pen so i bought the S8+.

we want Cheaper Note with Midranged CPU ... alot of people dont care about gaming much and they dont need the fastest CPU on their Note.

"Glad to see Samsung growing up."
Samsung is out of touch with consumers. Their J and A line of phones are outdated. They keep holding back on mid-range phones, because they don't want to cannibalise sales of the S line of phones.
The J range of phone are terrible and clunky.

Anonymous, 20 Jul 2018They are growing up cos S9 is not selling as well as expect... moreNot many are willing to pay extra for minor improvements. It's a minor upgrade over the S8 IMHO, which is now much cheaper. And still produces amazing photos in the capable hands (not mine as I don't buy Samsung :p) even without the variable aperture.
They should've seen that coming.

Merge the lines. Dump the S UI.
Replace it with the Note UI, the Pen features and productivity apps and name it S

When the price was ~$500 it wasn't a big deal for many to switch two times a year. And the difference was huge between the note an S lines. Bow the difference is marginal at best.
Glad to see Samsung growing up.

Stondec100, 20 Jul 2018With all due respect the Note 4 was a steaming pile of pure... moreNot to my experience.
Samsung gave up on it because she hates phones with removable batt. Put a real ROM on it and see how far better is it than the rest of the Note lone.
Note 5 is already dead. Its battery probably died to most users, it was tiny to begin with. Any phone that needs recharging twice a day is unusable. Contrast it with Note 4 which you never recharge (courtesy of spares).
A real mobile king. Espec the exynos version (the snapdragon version was indeed weak)

Anyone still confuse? It is more simple this way. I like this merging. Triple flagship. Budget S10 with flat screen, regular curved S10 with dual cam, S10+ with spen and triple cam. Thats pretty much it based on past rumors and this new merge news. Hopefully coming with qualcomm ultrasonic in display fingeprint sensor just like they said before.

Remove the S+ series so that customers will not be confused anymore. Great move though.

So what is changed?
S Plus is nonsense already. Bigger variant should just get the S Pen, and for f**ksake, make the S flagship to be even smaller! 5.6" is good, but I prefer something as 5.2".
S with 5.8" and S+ with 6.4"; hmmm, so a matter of 0.6" screen size difference can make up for a Note already. Back then, 5.8" was already a Note characteristic, now it's not enough.
