I live in France! And my two contract has just expired. I've been getting more and more interested in WP7, but haven't fallen for any devices yet, until I saw this Nokia. The two HTCs are blah, and Samsung design rubs me the wrong way. If this Nokia feels as solid as it looks, I'm picking one up.

JS, 06 Oct 2011Except Nokia fans (If there are still any) there will be ve... more"a year old phone"?! My HTC Desire is a year old, and it has 500 mb on-board memory and NO internal storage. I had to buy a 4GB card (8GB a year ago was A LOT!)
Its LCD screen sucks, and it has two plugs: the mini USB and a headphone jack.

I believe that there wont be any Nokia devices with WP worth buying until maybe this time next year, IF you are already a N8 owner.

JS, 06 Oct 2011Except Nokia fans (If there are still any) there will be ve... moreWP's hardware is restricted(and for a good reason). Therefore the hardware that Nokia uses is the same as on other devices. Anyhow, a book should not be judged by its specs. It's the content that counts.
As for other comments regarding N8's camera: It's not the pixel count that makes the N8's camera so good but rather the physical size of the sensor, and the excellent optics.

Except Nokia fans (If there are still any) there will be very few buyers for this kind of phone...look at the specs...looks like taken from a year old phone! By the time nokia will show up in market...nvidia will start production of quad core cpu and nokia folks will just be seeing dust while others pass by riding on quad core cpu ;)

yeh.. 1.4GHz CPU does not sounds a great thing becouse they waited to much to launch it.
Is that a dual core?

They've obviously recycled the n9's design with this new WP that's why it also uses the Micro sim. The biggest complaint against WP is really the Metro UI. And their really won't be any differentiation or any customization with Nokia's WP SW-wise.

[deleted post]Don't worry, there will be a NEW 16mp based n WP7 that will make look an N8 like a Fisher Price camera Toy, we can't go against progress and innovation and N8 is yesterday news :P
And just remember Symbian days are counted.....there will be just Updates, but not newer OS from Symbian on the horizon, just nice icons and updates here and there.....No a real significant progress....Symbian is not anymore a threat for newer ecosystems...even Symbian are rumored to be changed by Linux Os based systems.. :P

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2011A gigahertz processor is all it takes, nuff reason to upgra... moreOh no! I'm not going to upgrade to a phone just for a gigahertz processor if in exchange I'd be losing the great camera, great connectivity and other great functionality of my old phone. Not worth it. Really haven't found a worthy upgrade for my staunchy N8 from these pile of WP crap and cohort of Android phones.

They look great and I really wish Nokia does very well with this new venture. However, I do not see myself using a Windows phone in the near future atleast, just the look of the menus and the need of use of Zune just doesn't click for me. I'd buy the N9 though.
Goodluck Nokia!

Nokia maps is now available for on WP store for *ALL* WP/ handsets. It will be free for Nokia phones but other WP7 can buy Nokia maps for a fee. This means that if you buy a Samsung WP7 phone you can still get offline maps. Also Google is working on getting offline maps to work with Google maps, right now you can only download 16km square at the time but they are getting there. Now there is basically no reason at all to buy a Nokia phone, excellent strategy Nokia! Will go back to Android now, Nokia forced me to do this. No way I'm going to buy a Windows Phone.

If Nokia only h... moreWell Leaks form Microsoft sites explain Dual Cored OS integration will be with the WP8, this looks like WP8 will be a totally redesigned OS, let's see......... but the future on that one looks promising, and even more, Today's phone will run that new OS, along with the new ones, And that's something that not too much OS can done.....

[deleted post]I'm merely speculating here but, since WP7 doesn't support multicore it seems rather unlikely that Nokia would put a dualcore chip. It would only make sense in a marketing way.
