If Samsung can make better sensors than Sony, then why are they still purchasing a lot of them from Sony??

Look, I understand that you're truly born stupid, but you should do something about it instead of trying to prove it with your reply.

Basically SONY can bring a 500 megapixel phone to fight and will still lose to SAMSUNG ISOCELL

        Nice job Sony :)
As always superior to the competition

I bet this one is for Pixel 3

So the XZ3 will have this setup??

                      Main - 48MP, 1/2.3", f/1.8, RGB, 0.8um-1.6um pixel size
                      Secondary - 12MP, 1/2.3", f/1.6, B&W, 1.55um pixel size

Being able to reach ISO 51200 for photo and ISO 12800 for video like the XZ2 Premium using the same AUBE™ Fusion ISP means the XZ3 will be a killer in photography!

Not spreading hate but Samsung's ISOCELL is truly nothing against this!

sadh, 23 Jul 2018Nokia had 1.15micron pixel size on 1/1.1" 41mp in 2012. To... moreThe problem is that 1" sensor is way too much for smartphones of this era.
And we have advanced so much today, that we could achieve better results than we did in the past despite what the size tries to say.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2018So why isn't this in the XZ2 Premium? The phone is a member of the XZ2, so it just makes sense that it uses the same sensors as its smaller brothers.
Generally, Sony announces new IMX sensors every 18 months, and 2nd half of 2018 is the time for the introduction of the successor to the IMX400 of last year.

AnonD-454049, 23 Jul 2018What's the point of a high pixel count if the pixel size is... moreFrom the 48MP, the pixels will be combined together, which will result to a lower resolution but also bigger pixels.

The basic concept here is that 2 pixels would combine together to create one large pixel.

Since this sensor is on a Quad Bayer layout, 2 pairs of 2 pixels would combine together as one, which would then result to an effective 12MP resolution with 1.6um pixel size (in comparison, the S9+ and P20 Pro have 1.4um pixels on their 12MP main and 40MP main, respectively).

It's a very common misconception that pixel size is the most important factor of a sensor, it isn't. Only in low-light conditions or for high dynamic range scenes pixel size can have an impact. Generally the sensor area is more important. When you take a photo of a low dynamic range scene in good light conditions and don't underexpose, then a 48megapixel sensor doesn't give you more noise when you downsample it to 12 megapixels afterwards.

hahaha remeber 8year ago chinese phone in back 6-7speakers not its tym flooded with camera....

If this module is available on the next XZ3, men, it will destroy Samsung and Apple for real.
