A couple of years ago, a ZTE phone I had would kill music apps EXACTLY at the 15-minute mark. Adjusting the battery saver settings or whitelisting the apps didn't work because their programmers coded to behave that way. It's like they forgot that the users might listen to music longer than 15 minutes.

so are they going to do this to every brand that has a problem or actually sort the problem out and be professional about it rather than punishing people based on manufacturer preference ?

Just go to Settings, Battery, App Launch and remove the power saving defaults for VLC and you are done.

And now Huawei is screwing even harder than Xiaomi on that department.

                Best decision

Cant you just whitelist the app you want in background? And I think their is an option that makes killing not so aggresive

We can disable killing of apps In background from phone manager app in EMUI. And this solves the problem with any app in any Huawei device.

And by the way, I've also heard that Hi-Fi music from Tidal doesn't work on Huawei phones either...

VLC mobile version is trash anyway. MX Player is hundred times better!

St**id Huawei at it again. After not allowing users to unlock their phone's bootloader, now this. Huawei is simply FORCING users to use their OWN apps which does not clash with battery software optimization IMO.

I understand VideoLan's point. What Huawei calls battery optimization is nothing near something deserved to call Optimization. I use VLC and it definitely does not deserve to have poor ratings because of an OEM.

                              bravo..

F**K you Huawei! After not allowing users to unlock their bootloader, the battery software optimization feature in their phones killed VLC background playback as well!! This is ALL DONE to LOCK down Huawei users to use proprietary apps such as their native video player which can't play many codecs. The only way for these Huawei users who used to have VLC app is to switch to MX Player instead.

You know, when I say battery optimization, it was more to optimize what you're not using and what's not useful at the moment

NOT KILLING APPS THE MINUTE THE BECOME BACK GROUND APPS LIKE SOME SORT OF HITMAN!
