HMD is hiring a team to expand presence of Nokia phones in the US

26 July 2018
Only a few Nokia phones are available in the US and none of the higher-end models. HMD will work with carriers and retailers to change that.

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2018That does not say it is OWNED by him. He’s only controlling... moreLOL. Do you know how money funds actually work? They come from everywhere around the world, including your obsessed China. If you are so obsessed about China, why not buy a ticket and go there?

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2018That does not say it is OWNED by him. He’s only controlling... moreAhahaha, typical troll behaviour. I provide something and you dismiss it.

You claim the money is from China yet provide ZERO proof. Go on, post ONE link that states Smart Connect gets all its money from China.

I really don’t think these Chinese Nokias have any chance in the North American market, where even the real Nokia failed.

Do you even realize Taiwan is an independent, soverign country? Do you know that china and taiwan are actually politically hostile towards each other? They are basically enemies. Taiwan has nothing in common with HK.

Foxconn is a taiwanese company, no matter how much you try to twist reality.

It's funny that you posted that image. Foxconn does the manufacturing and the R&D related to that manufacturing and somehow you decided that it means they pay all the money that goes to HMD?! Read what is written below HMD. It says "develop". You see that, right? Do you know what that means? It means they are the ones that design and engineer the phones.

Instead of posting PR slides, go read who owns HMD and has the largest investrment. HMD was founded and is majority owned and invested in by Smart Connect LP which belongs to Jean-Francois Baril, a former Nokia executive.

Good job, i hope that is now undersandable for all, what is HMD and what is Foxconn, and who stands behind "Nokia" name on phones from 2017 and 2018.
It's not, that is this a bad thing, still better than "Nokia" in Microsoft ownership with beta W10M, and plasticy flagships 950/XL form 2015.

Wullf, 27 Jul 2018Are you sure about that? Do you know their business plans? ... moreWell they have some models in US on sale. 7 Plus (SD660), 8 (SD835), 5,6 2017 (SD430/5).. But they also have Nokia 3.1 in US (Processor is Mediatek, i dont remember number, but you get a point). Ok, this is a low end device, but for US (like for the rest of the world) they use Mediatek, and same chip.. So in those newest Nokia phones with Mediatek X5, X6.. who knows (maybe only for X6 will be SD636), but for X5 /5 Plus =Mediatek will stay).
after all it's a startup company.

Storage and ram memory in most oems comes from Samsung.. IPS screen Samsung? Is not bad, but is not Samsungs screen (maybe in 8 Sirocco only). almost everyting today is assambled in one of the Foxconn factorys, so no big deal, those HMD Nokias is build like tank :D

[deleted post]The "new Nokia" pretty much knows how to design it's products since you can't find the same design somewhere else. Oh yeah, I forgot that your username is Notchia. So you are going to whine about the notch... Well this is a trend so a lot of brands will probably implement it at one point... (Like it or not)
