It was pretty much the same on the 6 plus. The point of failure was below the rocker buttons where the aluminum was thinner. Every single phone that was bent fail at that precise spot.

Too fragile and expensive. Wait for a year it will be on sale for $400-500. It doesnt feel like many people would buy this.

            Offo.

AnonD-781401, 27 Jul 2018iphone 6 Plus doesn't have mechanical part and it bends har... moreIt's both body design and the use of mechanical part to move the camera mechanism are at fault. If watched the video, because of the large mechanism needed to raise the camera there wasn't much material needed to structurally support the rest of the body. The camera mechanism basically took a large part of the upper part of the phone, compromising the strength of the top half of the body.

On the iPhone 6 Plus, it was because the material they used was not as hard as compared to the newer iPhones. They used rather softer 6000 series aluminum, compared to the 7000 series aluminum that they use now. Combined that with Apple's obsession with thinness (especially obvious around the volume buttons) and you get a recipe for an easily bendable phone.

Why does anyone expect differently on Chinese phones. This is how they can price their phones lower or the same but at higher spec. You pay for what you get.

See, this proves that more mechanical parts = more failure.

I personally don't like (but not hate) the notch. But I'd rather have a notch that retracting/sliding camera mechanism that uses mechanical parts. We all know mechanical parts will tend to be less durable than non-mechanical or digital parts. Once the sliding mechanism breaks down, your either stuck with a protruding camera module that won't slide down, or worse a camera that won't come out.

Two for camera sturdiness and dust proofing
One for keeping the screen intact
And one for keeping the back intact
Although real life tests may prove otherwise ;)

I don't want to tell rhw fans "we told you so". The next oppo should build up on this and improve.
