AnonD-597325, 29 Jul 2018Adreno no question about itWhile Adrenos are still 2x more efficient than MALI G72 & about 60% compared to announced G73 it's not about it alone. While copper based mid frame or heat pipe can rise sustainable DTP for 0.5 to 1W which is actually a lot on base of 2.5W they still cost money. The same additional headroom (0.5 - 1W) can be provided to the GPU by proper CPU scheduling and it doesn't cost (much) money & doesn't rise power consumption. It's a huge difference if the GPU has a 1W (or less) compared to 1.5 to 2W on it's disposal. At the end even with it's efficiency advantage on the series 6 Adreno's the S845 crisis for this & it's not a very hard thing to provide for a good developer (tho it's not easy as there are always & unexpected difficulties to encounter [no hotplug in msm kernel currently, ensuring that governor & scheduling are really working as intended & cetera])...

I left the Hauwei scene, my last was an Honor 7. It was rubbish for software updates.

Mediatek sux, 29 Jul 2018And that shows the difference between huaweis shitty gpus a... moreI get same +/-60 on my Mate10 Pro, so before you bi*** about, compare same level phones and just to rub it in, Mate 10 Pro has a 4000mAh battery that gets me up to 3 days of battery life. No batery saver or smth like that, just AI after time doing it's job and I have switched off everything I don't care about, cuz huawei alows you to do that.

            Adreno no question about it

AnonD-594740, 29 Jul 2018Sounds more like just a driver update with specific optimiz... moreUnfortunately no. We aren't quite up there yet. In fact we are far from optimising (renderer, bucketing and cetera) per title. We probably won't get there anytime soon as partially it's on game developer, mostly on vendor and smaller part on OEM. Developer can't do some adjustments (choosing renderer type for Instance) on the system side even if he wanted as it's restricted (protected & require root permission [in the Huawei case - following Google advice not even available to the user space anymore]).

Mediatek sux, 29 Jul 2018Its 13℅ more. Lot less than what they claimed. No! Not really. They claimed on the SoC LV not a device LV (adding up display into a mixture), so they claims remain OK.

So while the S845 and gpu is lightning fast with every title, the games need a specific update for every title.. clever..not

Ha ha ha. Typically fake marketing from a chinese company. If they want to enter the US market seriously, they need to stop doing this. They risk a billion dollar lawsuit if they do something like this in the US

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2018My s9+ gets 60fps constantlyAnd that shows the difference between huaweis shitty gpus and adrenos.

Wahid145, 29 Jul 2018How is 30 min extra gaming a lot less`?Its 13℅ more. Lot less than what they claimed.

[deleted post]I'll agree that it is overpriced. But the S9+ still has quite the advantages over the Honor 10 due to the extra budget, so it being more expensive makes sense

Luxor, 29 Jul 2018It is unsurprisingly nothing new. Huawei never said it is a... moreIt's that Huawei gave us large numbers, and it's quite unusual to see up to 60% improvement in graphics performance in just a single software update, given that even 1 year of GPU hardware development often barely reaches 50% improvement in speed and performance.
People had a lot of expectations due to the interest that Huawei has gained, and you simply can't blame them for that.

So gpu turbo is nowhere near as good as advertised. What a surprise... A bit more stable fps and some power efficiency improvement are welcome, but not worth the hype.

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2018People weren't hating but we're skeptical of the claim and ... moreIt is unsurprisingly nothing new. Huawei never said it is a ground breaking new technology. What do you people even expect? It just software update.

Now let's see what Huawei will do with it combined with their upcoming Kirin 980. If it's way better than the Snapdragon 845, I'll probably hold off getting the upcoming Pixel 3 (the 5.4" one) .when it's available, and wait for the P30 series instead.

                                    Great!
I hope I can play games on Nova 3i AT LEAST 30 FPS.

LOL so much fuss about plane stupid CPU scheduler adjustment...
If process A is flagged ass a OGL shot down additional big core's & increase up migrate threshold.
If process B is flagged ass Vulkan disable up migrate all together (either thru changing CPU scheduler settings or true Android priority LV).
The end result; lower power consumption or increased graphics performance because: you saved some juice on CPU and GPU now has more power headroom on it's own.
