XZ 2 Premium has a really good camera but it is definitely not amazing. compare to Pixel 2 and Huawei P20 Pro, XZ2 Premium's camera is not really as good as you say. let's make it clear, XZ2 Premium's camera is better than all other cameras in situations where's completely NO light. *A big BUT*, to take a good photo you MUST hold the camera steady for 2-3 seconds and in 99% of times your hand gonna shake a little bit, that's enough to make the photo completely blurry and useless. In all other situations, Pixel 2's and P20's camera are way better than XZ2 Premium's camera. so if you buy a camera stand and carry it with yourself everywhere and then go to an alley with literally no light you can take a better shot than other cameras but if you're someone like me, who don't want to carry a heavy and big camera stand in every place and doesn't walk in a street where's the complete darkness then XZ2 Premium's camera is not the best choice, there are many phones for almost half of the price with a better camera, better hardware, faster updates, a clean Android, and a real customer and repair service and definitely every phone got a better design than SONY Xperia phones.

Joe Alligator, 02 Aug 2018Thats one of the problem nowadays, people focus on numbers ... moreNo dude this phone is not pricey because of the camera, it is pricey because it is a SONY Xperia, and the reason is if you compare all other Xperia phones were exactly as expensive as all other flagships and more expensive than many of them. Btw OnePlus 6 is not only about the numbers. OnePlus 6 UX is extremely awesome. I bought mine 2 weeks ago and just can say this phone is AWESOME. Btw please don't tell me they did cut the price of CPU (with lower clock) RAM, storage, customer service and more to add it to the camera. Sony's camera is not that good to be double the price of a OnePlus.
Please be a little bit realistic dude and stop blindly defending anyone or anything.

If the camera really did make great photos, then it was still possible to think about buying, but the fact is that everything remained at the same level. Details and sharpness still was not improved , there are problems with highlights of bright areas, still no OIS, there is no RAW, there is no good HDR and full-fledged manual mode. All the same from year to year, the algorithms simply rewrite from one phone model to the next.

It has the ram but so does Samsung. And oh wow it's 19mp instead of 12 so the pixels are smaller... Just as well as 16 and 20mp ones are nothing new, it doesn't have ois, doesn't have dual pixel focus, and the aperture is not as big as others.
Sure its a good camera and shows Sony is finally improving, but nothing that justifies it making this the new most over priced android phone.

User experience is not the priority it seems. Sometimes i miss the days when people bought phones because of the UX, there were no fancy processor names and numbers just how good it was to use the phone.
Also for your post, this phone is pricier because of the camera.

You should educate yourself better. HJ takes up space inside a device that a bigger capacity battery can use. And when you can increase the battery capacity with 10-15%, is reeally makes a lot of difference

If you really think they give up HJ for bigger battery then you're just a noob and naive guy. If you've ever opened a phone in your entire life you can consider that, battery and HJ doesn't have anything to do with each other.
And even if they did (even every one, who has a little bit idea about technology, and probably you don't), Benefit of having a Headphone jack is way more than 2-3% bigger battery.

I wish you much luck Sony with this price tag. Don't forget a OnePlus 6 with 128GB and 8GB RAM costs about 500$ (buy from retailer). I hope SONY can sell at least 100 devices. RIP SONY, you'll end like HTC. Actually SONY is already a dead brand in smartphone market.

And nobody except maybe a random few unlucky like with every device is complaining of bad battery life with the s9.
Its nothing but a scam with no benefits. Batteries are not bigger, phones are not thinner, process only went up, audio quality is degraded, options are removed, if you don't have an adapter and only around aux chords or headphones you are screwed, and Bluetooth ones are nice but cost more and have to be charged.
Sure some people don't care but that's not everyone and doesn't change the extra steps needed and possible bad situations
