Results have clearly shown it is not the best. It's great. Among the better. And shows they have finally improved their sofwtar some... Though went straight to over kill with sharpening sometimes like others sadly. Though not quite as bad.
But not the best. And with ois and better processing could possibly be the best or better. But Sony as usual always holds their devices down from their potential.

Not to sure about updates either, my phone was still on 8.0 the time I sold it a couple of months ago. Look at the OnePlus 6 that's been on 8.1 for a while.

    I am now using a Galaxy S9 and it destroys my XZ1 in every way :)

    Don't forget depreciation. I bought it for £400 and I sold it for £200 less than a year on..

    HALF PRICE OMG.. Never again Pony..

        Haven't even read any comments yet but I can tell you all that's happening.
        Clearly as the device is severely over priced people are saying this. Objectively it dethroned the pixel 2xl as being the most over priced Android phone right now.
        And the design choice is not the best.

        And for this the place is filled with endless Sony fans claiming how something else is over priced or how much better this phone and Sony is than any other to justify it. Or to twist it back around.
        And then talking bad on other companies. Most particularly probably Samsung because Samsung is doing better and ahead in more tech areas.

        But to make matter worse these fans talking all the bad things and non sense turned around and cried wolf. Claiming that it's really everyone else coming to talk bad on Sony because they are jealous. Even if it's a real life true issue from an actual Sony user. If it's not praising them as God then it hate talk....

        .... Same as every Sony page for years..... As bad or sometimes worse than an apple page...

            As for the display size, I get the need to have a phone you can use with one hand. An Iphone or XZ2 Compact will do the trick.

                    Display size, and lack of headphone jack.
                    Displaay max 5-5.2 inches, headphone jack is imperative for my mobile lifestyle.

                      sony are all around good phones..solid ones with good clean fluid software and good updating performance ....but their camera still lacks behind others...shame cuz they provide their sensors to other and cant fix their own issues ....way to high price tho if u can get another brand with better camera or battery life...but i have to admit their products are good ..

                            sony phones are good reliable and solid all around...but the camera department is where they lack off..good but not as good ..and at this price...hopefully camera algorithm and process have changed ..other than that r fluid with good updates

                              people always judge everything by its look. yea maybe XZ2P design is ugly in many eyes. but i think XZ2P has the most expensive hardware on the phone compare to other phone, their margin of gain is actually lower which gives them lesser money for advertisement.

                              -in XZP there is only 1 sensor at the back, and as we know bigger sensor costs more money, but in XZ2P there are 2 equally big sensor as of XZP which means double the money.
                              -4k hdr display, that got to be the most expensive display compare to full hd, quad hd display. if it is the same price samsung/apple or any other competitor would already go for 4k display. So obviously 4k hdr display is more expensive.
                              -vibration system, this is also add-on hardware in XZ2P, some might think it is gimmick but hey maybe others might enjoy it.
                              -AUBE, hardware and software combination to process the image, and from some of the video that posted on youtube, it is not gimmick and actually giving you better low light photo/camera.
                              -SD845, every flaghsip phone android phone has it so i think it is standard
                              -Wireless charging (some might not have it)
                              -Sony sound processing also is top notch, they got true sound, a lot of sound setting.
                              -Sony has great software too, my XZP still getting monthly security update and the 2nd fastest android to use Oreo. Their update suppose to last 3 years for flagship.
                              -They have near stock android UI.
                              -Qnovo charging technology to make battery last longer, Sony actually thinking about to lengthen your battery age by using Qnovo charging, all other competitor just thinking about charging it faster, which gives more heat and damage the battery faster. Sony is actually thinking ways to make your phone last longer.
                              -Lack of 3.5mm and rear FPS can be made up to since Sony ship together the usb c to 3.5mm adaptor. But the rear FPS is to penetrate US market which they probably shouldnt since they using more apple than android.

                              It is rumored that XZ2P will arrive in my country Malaysia for RM 3299 which is actually RM 100 cheaper compared to XZP launching price. Around 824 USD. The 999 USD is for US market since they screw with Sony the FPS.. LOL

                              Anyway, nobody is forcing you to buy it. I as consumer read the specs and decide what I want or best bang for buck. Most of the phone end up in a case anyway so why bother so much about appearance.

                                Extreme price for an extremely excellent phone...
                                But then again, there are some not so extremely excellent phones selling for the same extreme price as well...
                                So I guess Sony is kinda justified asking 1000 bucks here....
                                Not my budget range tho.
