Is there a case for phone cases?

I didn't use a case on my Note 4 and it was fine. The screen had a protector and i could replace the back if neccesary. Galaxy S8+ on the other hand simply needs it because i don't want the glass to get scratched and it looks gross everytime you pick it up, it's a damned fingerprint magnet.

I agree with Yordan. Phone outside is meant to protect the inside. We should enjoy our phones as they were meant to be, they are more or less expendable, we should not stick to a piece of technology.
And then comes the first scratch, the first broken glass. Maybe months, maybe days, maybe hours after the purchase. And all these logical thoughts go to the recycle bin.
I live a quite active live. My job is mostly on the field, I am a runner and drive a motorcycle. My phone WILL get scratched in a few days. I enjoy my phones naked at home or in an environment that I am more or less sure it's of low risk, to a restaurant maybe. For all other occasions I have three cases to meet any given occasion; One rugged for the active days, one "dress" for a more formal occasion and a bulky everyday wallet case to hold some cash and cards in.
And at the end of the day, I strip my phone off its case and enjoy it every time as new as I listen to music.

Not on Motorola's shaterproof phones. As for the screen just stick an AirGlass.

The thing that I learned that yes, must put a case on your phone no matter what. I myself use a Nokia 8 Polished Blue version. At first I didn't want to get a case for it because it'll look horrible. But now, I totally regret my decision. The back of the phone all scratched up, same thing goes to the front. Please everyone don't be stupid like me if you want your phone to be always beautiful just like the first time you bought it and use it.

I'd really love to use my phone without a case and show it in all its splendor, but these things and their repair parts have become so expensive nowadays that I just can't afford to leave my phone unprotected.

I have always use extra panzer glass and a window flip cover or a wallet flip cover, last one does the job as a wallet to, very smart for me.
And its funny to see all my family and friends who not use a cover, have a broken glass on their mobile... thats really fashion.
I give a beeepppp on how my mobile looks, so i dont even have a scratch on my 2 years old zenfone 3 ultra.
I always have some covers and panzerglass in stock to change if it brakes on my mobile.
              Aliexpress is my friend :-)

I only have a skin on the back of my phone, but my phone is plastic and has a lip at the top and bottom of the front glass to protect it. Had it a year and a half and dropped it lots of times, still in great condition.
Pretty much every phone now has glass protruding from the front and back, and if there isn't a case to absorb impacts, the only "give" is in the glass itself.

Interesting how i thought this is a nonsense debate, apparently 30% thinks they dont need or use phone cases on their phone. Shows how people see things differently.

Try - is case necessary for xz2p, heavy&slippery? Or p20pro, thin&fragile? On your own risk, for sure.

A transparent case with the right thickness is a good middleground. But I must say, phone cases sometimes doesn't just protect phones; they also hide the phone's lazy and a bit off-putting design. Case in point: phones with metal back and plastic top and bottom strips that have a different shade of color (also those with the hideous antenna lines that just cut across the back).

They are necessary, but in moderate means. For instance, I've been rolling in without protection for like 5 years til' I shattered my first S7. The phone was too damn destroyed that looking at it made me cry of how brutal of crime to beauty took place (LOL).
But seriously, I don't like the feel of glass or anodized aluminum (especially when both sweaty).. So I found myself sticking to thin cases that are made of cloth usually. It's a stupid decision by OEM to manufacture phones like this today.. but you can't fight the tide.
Though one thing I'm against is those extra bulky cases. A friend of mine literally has to unscrew his case from his phone just so he can resell it for a good price. It's a gadget people, it's meant to be used til' it's dying days, it's not an ornament.

Protection, added functionality/battery, original style,... is there even need to ask? Not to forget missing materials that are best for touch like leather, cork, alcantara.
btw samsung probably got alcantara covers for note8,s8/+,s9/+.

I frankly think cases are neccesary. They do give your own touch for the phone. And stop the annoying wobble. It freaks me out when there's even a tiny bump that causes the phone to "dance" on the surface unintentionally. However there's no need to go to the extreme either (like a mega bulky case. Or a "book" styled case)

My pixel 2 needs it, because of the silly paint job that scratches easily. Otherwise I would never use a case!

I cannot agree with either statement. My early phones never had protection, but they were metal or plastic. Then phones got bigger, got glass and the back cracked and splintered. So my next phone had invisible shield film. The next one BROKE from a four INCH drop as I tried to take it out of my pocket while sitting on a bench.

The next phone in common with all at the time had a camera bump, as well as glass everywhere, and cost far more. So I started getting cases that gave protection to the back and the bump.

Them my Huawei Mate 9 came with a screen protector already fitted, and a thin case in the box too. A year on, and I've just replaced the screen protector because the phone fell face down on gravel. First fall ! Destroyed protector. Perfect screen. Job done.

Manufacturers don't give a damn. They build form over function; eye-catching over practical; headline grabbing over useful.

In my case (no pun intended), yes. I like to keep my devices scratch-free and think of the re-sell value.

They weren't necessary until a few years ago when phones were made of durable materials such as plastic & metal. They are necessary now though because almost every phone is made of glass body which will break on the slightest of drops.
