Counterclockwise: HTC is the foundation upon which modern smartphones are built

05 August 2018
You know HTC built the first Android phone, but did you know it also built the first Xperia phone? As an ODM, HTC didn't get the recognition it deserved.

Plazmex8, 07 Aug 2018Wow, that was one hell of a nostalgic article! I remember ... moreMany companies like Nokia and LG switched their focus to other more profitable segments... Nokia is focusing on Network, Telecommunications and 5G, and they license their branding to HMD Global.... LG is still going strong i think with their other segments, but they left the mobile division, atleast last time i heard...

HTC is remain one of the best company creating mobile phones, I have touch Viva, HD2, ONEX, M8 and M9. The major mistake they did, they are not listening to the customers, they create phone without knowing what customers want.
They did perfect job in U12+, just if they make the screen bigger a little and battery 4,000 Am it will be a monster phone. but they have no marketing. so sure now they suffer.
I am sad for such big company ... just I hope they listen before too late.

I used to be a big fan of HTC. Not anymore. I seem to have bad luck with Taiwanese products as both HTC and ASUS have given me problems.

I've owned three HTC-manufactured smartphones - Nexus One, HTC One M7, and Pixel.

My favorite designs were easily the M7 and Nexus One but the Pixel was my favorite that they ever made. Ugly but so smooth and rarely gave me issues. As seen from my other comment on the LG article, I prefer LG more than HTC overall.

There are very few brands I support now and HTC no longer is one of them.

        LG. Sony. Motorola. Nokia?

Nice Article, recalled all those Phones and the memories associated with it...

Wow, that was one hell of a nostalgic article!
I remember the hype and excitement of HD2!!!

Too bad such good companies that pioneered the mobile world are slowly dying!
Nokia, Motorola, HTC... All these were the most innovative at their time and yet didn't survive the globalization!
Because of course, giants like Samsung and LG survived because of their deep pockets and unlimited budgets...

Who's had, or heard of the HTC TyTNII...??

Im using HTC since its come in Android. from HTC Hero till HTC one m7 im a great fan of it. Still own a HTC M9+. But HTC team forget deigns in innovation and implementation present. still wait for HTC new design Phones.

HTC definitely helped to pioneer Android but later started to much copycat apple and keeps prices high of their subpar phones, no wonder they are dying

Fitbri, 05 Aug 2018 Wow. Great article. Love reading a little history. So enl... moreHonestly, the brightness of the U12+ isn't an issue. Yes it isn't as bright as the S9 or G7, but honestly, I realised I never ever needed brightness more than what the U12+ can offer. Under bright lighting, I was still able to view content well, contract to what many reviewers say. I don't know what magic they did, but I would say display is really not a problem.

And people are saying it was the first iphone that made the smartphone that it is today. Wrong! It was actually windows mobile with HTC's skin that started the whole revolution. The only "new" thing the iphone brought was the capacitive touchscreen since everybody uses resistive ones back in the day. Look at modern ios and android now, they are more PCs and Windows-like now.
