Most of don't understand that at this price range no one as yet gave a snapdragon 660 or such great camera modules and stock android with 2 years support...those who are telling they should have given headphone and expandable memory...they should really consider this fact...otherwise redmi note 5 pro is still a good option for those who just want headphone jack , a memory slot and a decent camera and good performance. People should understand the fact that xiaomi is trying to cover every aspect of their customer requirements....mi a2 is completely focused on mobile photography at budget with quite great performace...so they and to make some tough desicions to ensure pricing is well balanced. And for those who are telling that honor play is a better option..i too agree with them but only if someones sole focus is on performance...camera though its good but not as good as mi a2 and not even close in low light. So mi a2 is a great device in its segment, i am not telling that i am a mi fan or so but the on going debate on mi a2 and honor play is not justified by the ridiculous points that most of you are saying.

It's an half baked product with missing features which one expects in this price bracket, there isn't anything extra other then good set of camera to compromise over other important features like higher capacity battery, better display, better speakers, micro SD, headphone jack. Somewhere in race to lower the price tag Xiaomi has scrutinized Mi A2 too much. In flagship phones you get something extra like high quality display, audio dac, better speakers, innovative technologies like inbuilt finger print display, pop cameras, top of the line SoC, great design and build quality, high quality cameras etc which is excellent enough to justify the elimination of headphone jack and decent enough battery which they provide at premium, can't say the same for a budget phone like A2 with unpractical design and bumped up camera which doesn't even allow to the phone flat on the surface and lot of missing features.

Like it or not, Nokia wants to place itself as a "top tier" brand, and has hence prices all it's devices at a huge premium.
What we should compare the A2 with, are the brands who place themselves in the same "tier".
Also, until last year it was Xiaomi who would do this, launching devices at dirt cheap prices (obviously wrt the specs they offer). This year when they tried to squeeze in a bit more margin, Asus, and now Honor as well, is playing the same game that they were the masters at.

Anonym, 08 Aug 2018It's called "price bracketing". The target for the Mi A1 wa... moreWell, Xiomi cannibalizing their own devices is nothing new. They did it last year (Y1 & Redmi 4/Y1 Lite & Redmi 4A) and are doing so even more this year.
They don't consider it "cannibalizing", instead they believe in "more devices=more sales", and they have had great success as well with that.
There may be other issues in not launching 3/32 variants, but it was not because they didn't want to cannibise other models.
A1 & RN4 had completely different USP's. They were never "competetors". I am 100% sure they would have sold more A1s, and even the Redmi Note 5 Pros, had they launched 3/32 variants in India.

Wanted the Mi Pro, not available..got Asus M1 Pro with better specs, i.e, 6gb ram et al at lesser price with less bloat and shite. They create non-existent demand and then they claim they are at the top. This is bolshevik.

                  Honor Play is better

No Headphone Jack, No SD Card Slot, Battery is less than RN5pro, Supports Quick Charger but the quick charger is not included, Display in dim. So this is a Jack-less, Jackass phone.

Vic4BBM, 08 Aug 2018They are not treating India like second class market. They ... moreThey launch only two flagship device in the last four years
Mi 5 (only 32gb version) and mi mix 2s
And they are considered budget king because they dont believe in Indian people..and they pay the pricore for it
Oppo, vivo and oneplus are taking midrange and high midrange segment market share (not that i like them) and xiaomi will only be budget king...nothing more
And they still wont release mi8 in India...and i hate them for it
When they released redmi note 3, 32gb version was almost impossible to buy
When they released redmi note 4, 64gb version was again almost impossible to buy
And this year, redmi note 5 pro was again quite difficult to buy
They always thought we didnt afford them...
They always undermining the buying power of Indian citizen
They always treat Indian fans as 2nd class citizen
                        Thats my opinion

The target for the Mi A1 wasn't the same that would buy the 3GB version in India, so they did the smart thing to not cannibalize sales of the model that did target those folks (ie. Redmi Note 4, a best seller).

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is just one extra bracket within the mid-range, and like they did before, they want the guys that would buy a 3GB version to buy the Note -- not the Ax series.

                                1st bad device from xiaomi.
                                Well done.

Lack of 3.5mm jack and lower battery capacity are deal breakers. The Product Management folks at Xiaomi are too dense to realize this.

Also, Vivo Nex has been launched in the OP6 ballpark. It's nowhere close to being overpriced.
