However, my eyes can still detect that the photo looks fake or has an artificially boosted color profile. What the average consumer looks for in a camera is irrelevant to me and doesn't matter. The P20 Pro has impressive hardware, but has constantly come up short with software and that's been the story with Huawei cameras. Actually, I'd take the Mate 10 non-Pro or Mate 10 Pro's camera over the P20 Pro.

The copycat's marketing has certainly generated much sales. While Samsung and Apple troll each other, Huawei trolls both, double strength.
They come up with a gimmicky NPU which has yet to prove its use, they get developers to optimize apps to their SoC and call it "GPU Turbo", as if their GPU actually gets any faster. They pretend they're the inventor of dual cameras, they're not even second place. The P20P's 40MP sounds mighty on paper, it smears compared to regular bayer and generates intense moire. They're good at brainwash, I give them that.

That aside, Huaweis do tend to boost saturation too much, I've seen many examples of flowers on a sunny day where the Huawei would boost saturation so much that most of the tones on the flowers are an eye searing mess and indistinguishable from one another.

I'd rather use an old 3310 than a china spying brand.
You have to be NUTS (or chinese) to want a replica over the real Note 9.
And I'm a Sony fan.
Only Japanese or Korean tech for me.
PS I know everything is made in china these days, what interests me is WHO designed it. (hardware and software)

Long answer: Huawei alone is competing with xiaomi in the lower mid-range right now where as Samsung is dying and the other were dead long ago.
In the flagship range Huawei p series and mate series have a lot of improvements because they were much inferior to begin with when compared to the brand-name companies but at least they do something unlike Sony who openly stated that they are not investing much resources in r&d. No respect here for Google because their pixel series is just a iPhone wannabe with a good camera and lots of hardware defects and software bugs. Lg and Motorola have pretty much stagnated and have just provided processor upgrades over the last 2-3 years. Sony and HTC are still somewhat innovative but still they don't compare to Huawei (or even Samsung) in price to performance.
Hope you gained some insight and a life.

I love the battery from Hueawei Mate 10 it last long....and the fast charging is the best!!!! 1hr charging almost complete!!!!!

You cannot compare processing when phones use different expositions, iso and shutter speed. It is ridiculous to compare iso 200 + 0.25s against iso 500 + 0.031s.
Nobody does it because iphone has no manual mode.
Except GSMArena, all forget to adjust distance phone/object according focal length.
Also all tests should be done with tripods. Our bodies shake , it is natural. But how much it shakes when you use phone A is not same when you use phone B or C.
Samsung and HTC are pretty weak when iso goes higher than 500.
Even OP6 does better at high ISO.

Hehe funny. P9 -> P10 was very minimal.. Its not like they havent done the same. I wonder how different next years P lineup will be from this years.. Samsung will blow many peoples minds next year, see whos laughing then.

I agree , upgrade on hardware. But your software on mate10/10pro/P20pro sucks. They are just using android stock. Sorry huawei, i know u are competing with samsung but samsung phones are not only offering hardware, also they also offering bunch of softwares to support their products.

The pixel 2 was considered the best because at the time it had better dynamic range and really boosted sharpening and contrast and some colors to the way most people like that. Not because it actually had the best photo quality and certainly doesn't now.
Yes s9 still boosts exposure a bit but it's quality and dynamic range are superior. And adjusting exposure is as easy as taping the screen in the lighter or darker area. And if it's still not good enough you get a slider from that point. And non of them get it perfect.
In fact the s9 goes for more accurate colors than most.
And if you want that bigger contrast or color boost it's a simple setting away.
You should really do a lot more research and looking with your eyes objectively before telling people about something
