I remember my old Sony Ericsson C510. It was still functioning until now. I like Sony phones especially their update policy. They were too quick to give updates. The only thing I don't like about their new phone is the design and finger print placement for their flagship phone. I find it awful to reach because it's almost at the middle of the phone.

I had two (2) Sony Ericsson phones, a K508i and a J105i. They were great, save perhaps the fact that the charger pins and the matching port were prone to corrosion, causing them to not be detected, but otherwise they were good phones.

If they wanted to do so, instead of 2018-February, they would offer IMX486/499/519 in three different time to put in each handset to show the potential of each.
Most parts which are available to market are not inside any model of Sony Branded handsets.
When Note9 crowned best display, it is the testers' conclusion, not the real life use or manufacturers desire.
When some minor camera issues make photographs far from excellent, these issues are not even bold enough to polish in next software update.
Problem here is not public, as most people not only do they know their phones parts, they don't even know the manufacturing process of their handsets. Some of them even imagine that a Brand like Google, Nokia, Apple, HTC, etc. are companies with full manufacturing line from SoC to Case.
Problem is handset manufacturers which buy too many samples from different suppliers available and test them to find the satisfactory part based on Price : Quality ratio.
Those are unaware about Sony's commercially available handsets as their order would arrive even before those handsets become officially available to market.

I just want Sony to make phones that looks like xperia S and Sony erricson xperia arc. This designs we're just amazingly sexy! I would pay for a phone with such design and not complain.

I only owned a single Sony Ericsson phone (K700) and it was the only one that had to go through warranty services. The power button broke during its first year and was replaced. 6 months after, the same thing happened. Never had any SE phone after that.

I was die hard Sony/ Ericsson fan. SE W550 was first phone and never looked to another brand. This brand has not remained the brand it was. I have suffered many times by their pathetic service and i think their poor service is one of the reason for their fall. My next phone will be samsung or pixel.

Sony is still clever not to reveal the aim of producing phones with bad market share.
The reason behind is that, people who buy Sony appliances like to have all in Sony, so they mostly buy phones with other appliances.
Sony owners if feel the emptiness of phone in their collecting set, then who is the next major appliance producer?
So, in order to be competitive with high price tag on other appliances and electronic goods, there must be Sony phones in order to at least move customers away from those of LG, Samsung, Panasonic, etc.
The reason behind introducing new model each and every time possible and multiple variant of a flagship each half year is the above.
Example:
If you are a Sony fan, there is 3 reason to buy Sony:
1- Top Quality
2- Competitive price to value
3- Bold trustable brand
All three are directly connected to the hidden 4:
"Nostalgia of family"
A Grand Mother had a TR-730 with her all the time, her daughter born in a home with Sony brand in it which was the source of music.
The Daughter grew up with many appliances in her home and in her 20th she would definitely obtain a LV-1901 with many other things available with the same brand.
The son of that daughter will follow up by overwhelming Brand in his home which was only one and it was Sony.
It is natural the boy buy PS instead of Mega CD.
Buy other things with Sony branding from Walkman to Laptops.
Now the 4th generation of that family which was once only a Grand Mother and her husband (2) is more than 30 who want to buy something? which brand is trustworthy?
Which brand was tested before? Which brand has everything?
Imagine Sony stops phone making, these little twigs in the family tree will do these things:
1st - Start to complain
2nd - Use older and insist on Sony
3rd - Buy another to be on track with new features
4th - Put already aged handset with Sony branding in drawer
5th - Choose another brand to test
6th - Buy gadgets of that brand for best compatibility possible.
7th - Use next of the same brand
8th - Clean house and get rid of Sony phone
9th - The fifth generation will be born
10th - The new born girl is growing up with the available brand at home.
11th - The Ferris wheel of life.
