Why is this even news. Arent all ads made that way. Even in tv commercial it clearly stated in fine print at the bottom *image shown is for illustration purpose only. I always know they never use the phone for the real photos or videos. Though, occasionally I seen behind the scene of other brand like LG really did use the phone albeit I still suspect some photoshoped or tweaking has been done. Lol.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2018Everyone does it, including Sony.Imagine they don't! No one would buy their phones (I'm speaking in general here).
Imagine an ad that says:
Our new phone has slightly improved camera, it still has shaky noisy pictures, and the SoC is faster but you won't feel the difference ! Still, it looks better than its predecessor so buy it!

Well if you want to take photos get a camera. A real camera. Even an old mirrorless camera like a Panasonic G7 can take amazing video in good light and it wont have that vertical bs of most phone videos. Still the real capacity of what a phone can do will come out eventually. Just dont be the first sucker to buy one.

It's not unique to Huawei. Even Samsung' flagship phones, Sony's Xperia phones and Apple's iPhones do it plus some other China made phones (Oppo, Vivo). Fake advertising in smartphones is rampant. Ads from Sony and Samsung's waterproof flagships seem to indicate you can use the phone taking shots while swimming in the pool or beach only to find out with so much regret they can't even outperform cheap $20 water resistant quartz wristwatches that survive while the expensive ip68 smartphones get water damage. Selfie photos from iphones, Oppo and Vivo seem to trick naive users into thinking the images they capture with the fake bokeh and added software lighting effects are close to what you can capture from a dSLR in a professional photo studio when the truth is, no PRO photographer would ever use a wideangle lens to capture a face portrait because it results to distorted facial features making the nose bigger and the ears smaller (barrel distortion). And then there's this high ISO and super slo-mo capability that are worthless in real life but are promoted as even exceeding dSLR or human eyes' viewing capability with up to ISO 51200 sensitivity and with the super slo-mo, not usable for even mundane candle blowing shots in kiddie parties indoors in low light/available light videography.

All top branded ad commercial using DSLR cameras, u can just see it with naked eyes, the main point of the commercial is to shows the technology & features they provided, hence use DSLR just for the illustration.
As for Huawei Nova 3, no matter how fake they promote it, it is still a very capable camera phone in its price range.

I tried the XZ2 myself and I can rest... moreNope i just pick random obvious samples...no offense, i also use Xperia Z1 & Z3 last time...just look back the commercial ad makes me laugh...theres an ad a guy hold the Z1 in taking photos of a couple in low lights...wow picture so nice and noiseless (u know its the other way around in real life)...lossless zoom marketing shows a bird zoomed in with a very clear zoomed results lol, where u can never achieve that. The most obvious are when they promoting Z3 12800 ISO photos shot in low lights shows some peoples playing ski at night wearing neons outfit wow picture so nice haahaha.
From all of that advertisement, i know already that its just marketing bull$hit, same goes to other brands. Still i bought the Xperia Z1 & Z3 because those two suits my preference & best device at that time.

I tried the XZ2 myself and I can rest assure that the advertisement sample pictures are really something that could be taken with the XZ2. I know how the XZ2's camera would perform in such situations, and the advertisement sample pictures really match up to the reality.
Why not just put the blame on others like Samsung?? Sony at least knows a thing about smartphone photography and would not be bothered into bullsh*t marketing.

Trash advertising like this has paved the way for tech review channels on youtube to make a living by showing what's actually worth buying.
I wonder who reading this article has even seen this commercial? The whole concept of using commercial spots like this is dated. Just send your phone to a youtube reviewer whose fanbase knows they won't use tactics like these.
