People here who continually bash HMD by calling it Chinese and keeping mum about other companies are plain ignorant! Everyone knows that Foxconn supplies parts for Apple , HMD and BBK group! Kindly don't attack with biases!

I'm getting a bit tired of this "apple switching suppliers for lower cost" when the fact that it's not lowering the devices price but in fact increasing it

Seriously now, anyone spending a grand on this crap nowadays has to have something wrong with their brains, lol whats going on :D
Cheaper? Lol are they not making enough money already? So many iPhones fail out of the box, the iPhone 8 from what i saw had quite a few fail (wifi, fingerprint and audio for calls)
They want to go for cheaper and probably more unreliable components? Get a grip of yourselves.
Pixel 3 XL, Oneplus 6T
they're the only phones now.

Usually hardware gets cheaper over time as suppliers improve their methods and become more efficient. The only times hardware gets more expensive is when a rare material gets supply constrained and fluctuations in the stock market. Other times it can increase due to patents/licensing concerns, or import tax tariffs.
The reason there's a trade-war is not because of Trump. American media is mostly politically-left and they are very eager to smear and demean Trump. Basically, the trade-war was started by China and it was prolonged by China... its basically China flexing its muscles and them trying to be more independent. Their target is to become a technological powerhouse et al "Made in China 2025". One great accomplishment was that China finally were able to make their own pen last year, before then they had to import it from Japan, Europe and USA.... and that's what China is trying to do, to steal/copy/invent/surpass/dominate not the "manufacturing" part of the equation but the "innovation" part of the equation when it comes to products.
After their goals of "Made In China 2025" is their set goals of "Military 2035" where they plan on becoming as powerful as the USA, and probably using their newfound technological wealth to grow their military, and probably using their newfound military might to hoard the South-East Asian continent.

According to iFixit...2018 iPhone component prices will be like,
200$ for the cheapest version. 300$ for the best version. This is my prediction only. The fanboy will accept it and buy it at minimum 650$ price tag for cheapest version.

The reality is that in order to get Apples business, the Chinese competitors had to demonstrate QA/QC and end products the same or better than Taiwanese suppliers. The days of Chinese suppliers being second tier are long gone: they can be equal to the best in the world, if you are willing to pay a fair price. Apple does not compromise on quality and it does not discriminate as to the nation where components are sourced from.

No wonder Apple's quality getting low and low compare to huawei and Samsung nowadays. Getting cheap components and sell it with a premium price.

Kudos to Apple. For the first time ever, they themselves accepted beforehand that they will be using cheaper components.
No worries for the marketing department now, as they won't have trouble answering questions regarding false claims of using highest quality materials in their devices!
