Indians don't want Samsung to price their phones same as the cheap spying Chinese phones u don't say from side of India,xiaomi mia2 price at 17 k with same specs ,@ 42k u can buy an samsung galaxy s8 with fare better camera quality and aesthetic,@36k to 44k u can buy pixel 2 most consistent camera on market ri8 know ,@ 35k u can buy one plus 6 which is one of the fastest phone on the market ri8 know according to one of top ranked you-tuber MKBHD with same build quality with far better camera and specs,huawei isn't behind either with its kirin 970 compare to this A8star looks primitive from inside...... and at that price point it doesn't fit at all ...
    its ok to ask for 5k 7k or 10 k extra for build quality and branding but asking 18k to 20 k extra is insane in the competitive market like India,at least they should have put sd710 or sd820 or 35 and because of this low-spec processor at high price samsung phone start to give lag issue after using it for 6 or 12 month. so all over its an nice phone which is wrongly priced.

      If u put A8 star with A8+ side by side, from exterior you cant tell the different except their camera position at back panel, and A8+ feels more heavy.

Everything else is perfectly balanced. People still like the Chinese brand it's there choice but it's there luck if it work value for money if not all waste. Brands like Samsung Apple Sony at least give good customer service. Mi is worst in terms of after sales service. I personally don't like Mi ( Call me a hater if you want :P ). 5k less for this phone would have been deal breaker. Samsung invest so much in R&D for there components which need to be covered. Chinese brands don't invest much they only sell online no offline store can be seen. No ads on tv or marketing just pay to Amazon and Flipkart and they are done. The reason for the cheap price to sell.

            Indians want Samsung to price their phones same as the cheap spying Chinese phones, it's not happening. Yeah google, microsoft etc all spy & they've been doing it since ages, but as an Indian you do not want chinese spying too but most of the Indians don't give a f**k & we keep on buying chinese products & making them rich. Sadly these chinese know us Indians better & they know how kill 2/many birds in one stone. Some of my fellow Indians want this phone priced at 20k, u guys need help, this isn't competing with Honor play. Except the kirin 970 everything other thing in Honor is no match to A8 Star & Snapd 660 isn't any entry level chip either. Prolly, Sammy should have priced this arnd 28k-30k, it would have definitely been more attractive & competitive but Samsung doesn't budge & it loses & the Chinese Huawei & Xiaomi are reaping the benefits. If this was priced arnd 28-29k, i would easily go for this over sh*tty Pocofone or OP6. Paying over 30k for 1+ & Xiaomi devices is insane.

                  For people who really want a sturdy and a reliable phone for next 2 years, will go for this phone. If you are not happy with the price point, then dont troll here. If people want to pay only for the hardware without any support or reliability, please choose those cheaply made phones. All the cheaply made phones are not environment friendly.

                    I think if people are buying Samsung, they should only buy the flagships. Their mid-range phones aren't that great. The chinese options offer far better value for money. Specially the recently announced Honor Play or the OnePlus 6 (or maybe wait for 6T).

                      JOHN, 24 Aug 2018if it was an iphone with 1000 plus dollars what would you s... morehey john..... i didn't meant to disrespect u and this brand in any way,what i really meant is here in India competition is very tight and with the presence of brands like huawei and oneplus its a nightmare for company like samsung to survive in this premium mid-tire or mid-tire segment they should have priced it at $350 0r $370 max that only bcz of its good build quality and branding but samy has priced it at $500 same as one plus with the far primitive spec and one plus is known to be one of the fastest android one the market ri8 know with same top notch build quality and according to the one of leading you-tuber MKBHD its even faster than pixel at some point.

It's somewhat recent news so you might not know. No doubt currently Samsung is leading but the way things are going, Samsung might not be able to compete in the coming years.

How they have been making a fool of us, by rebranding the same phone a zillion times and marketing it as a fresh device at an even higher price.
                            They are now second, after Xiaomi, in the Indian market, and with with Xiaomi launching devices like the Poco, and Samsung launching devices like this Star, the gap will keep on increasing.
                            With increasing Internet penetration, people are now becoming more & more aware of which is the better phone. Today, no Tiger Shroff would make them buy the J6 or On6, as it would have done 5 years back.

                                I just bought S9+ 21 days used @ 39k or u can buy note 8 3-4 month used around 32k so no point to buy this phone @ this price

                                  What Samsung should've done was to discontinue Galaxy A8 and replace it with A8 star at the same price point to even be relevant. With such hefty competition in that price range, this is an extremely bad decision. I don't know why but since last two years, samsung seems to be digging its grave in the mid-range and budget phones market. They should stop launching so many irrelevant devices and focus on just a few strong devices in all segments. But clearly they won't do that. I don't know what kind of marketing and sales teams work for them.

                                      People will keep buying Samsung, Sony and Apple devices even if Xiaomi starts selling products at more aggressive prices. Those people includes the one who didn't have a good experience with Xiaomi or other Chinese brands, those who prefer Samsung displays, those who like Samsung UI, and those who believe in their aftersales service. Also, we need to understand Samsung has a lot more staff to pay at higher average wages. The company just can't sell products at losses to satisfy your or my needs. Only Apple prices are unjustified. They keep very high profit margins and hence the first trillion dollar US company.

                                        guess it's sales are going to be low , with all of the other brands like xiaomi and huawei , samsung has no chance making mid range mobiles for the price of some flagships ..
