HTC DIDNOT say which phones are going to get it and which phones aren't. GSMARENA opinion is incredible S and Desire S might not. but the bottom line is HTC didn't say when and which phones will get. So i wonder what all the fuss is about

This is the very reason why I already gave up on Android.
The waiting game with the manufacturer if they will going to include the phone that you were using for the next update.
Fragmentation is really ugly. Hasta la vista, Android!

htc desire hd will never get ics because of the fact it doesnt have a nfc (near field communication) chip, in that case it doesnt have the hardware requirements

In the land of the "droid" don't purchase a smartphone based upon the hope of your device OS being upgraded unless the OEM/MSP explicitly state so beforehand.
Most current topend devices may see minor rev updates and bios fixes or patches but a major revision upgrade should not be expected. The alternative, however, being to go to the open source dev community where rev updates or upgrades are far more likely though "rooting".
We never contemplate OS upgrades preferring to utilize what is installed into launch devices....then do the opendev root eventually as it matures over time.
With Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0x) now in the wings with the Nexus and new feature sets in 4.xx versions to come endusers wishing these new functions and features will need to consider their upgrades to be a new device. With that said the top 2 or 3 devices may be able to utilize some or much of ICS and hopefully the OEMs will be willing to resource some updates.....
As always JOHO.....

I found this funny... HTC doesn't dare to made ambitious move like what they did to Desire last time.

Better be quick. I remember the day that HTC announced they gonna update HD Desire to gingerbread which was ahead of samsung accounce its SG1 update.
However, somehow SG1 users actually got their update ahead of hd desire users(it varies countries to countries but still).

Was there someone from SE or Moto join HTC? Why HTC does some stupid moves recently (locking boot loader, too much proud of own custom UI that preventing OS upgrade & what next).

One question for people complaining so much on the latest OS release update. Can you name one model of other phone which gets more than 3 OS update after release. I asked this for my knowledge.
I like HTC Sense and I'm happy with my HTC Incredible S and if they don't update it to ICS I'll have to root it to ICS.

Eastwood, 20 Oct 2011They should only allow Phones with a dual core to upgrade. ... moreEastwood you are being harsh mate. Not everyone can afford the most expensive handsets like the S2.
From what has been seen of ICS i don't see why the Desire S couldn't run it. I think the main issue would be how much screen real estate the new software keys take up (unless they can be hidden). I'm quietly hoping that my Galaxy S gets the 4.0 treatment.
Seriously though, stop bashing those who don't have the money. We get enough of that off the Apple fanboys.
