The Mi 5 and Pocophone are proof enough. Even so, we think the Mi Mix is the most important phone that Xiaomi ever built.

Some phones cost more than $300 to be made. So if they sell for much less, it means they are much cheaper.
Chinese brands make money with adds that pop up on their chinse UI. Cheap employees on China and India. No sales worldwide which means no costs to keep costumers services
/distribuition/taxes in many countries
They dont make money with phones, just get costumers from others.

Lets see now the people who like the oneplus and used to say oneplus better than the big names.
I a long time ago, Oneplus is an overrated phone
