Pocophone F1 teardown: a closer look at the 'LiquidCool' heatpipe and the face scanner

28 August 2018
The Poco appears solidly built with many screws holding it together and it looks surprisingly easy to repair.

They just gave the darned thing a name cause it isn't typically used in most phones. Does giving something a name make it somebody's personal self-made never thought before invention? No. Stop being a ****.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't.
Those two (Apple/Samsung) will probably do anything to keep the competition out. They have cozy deals with the carriers, who sell the phone at a "no interest" for x number of months at FULL PRICE with no discounts, and the carriers make it up on overpriced service. Yeah, they'd probably want to protect that, given how uneducated the general public is about affordable phone, and, think if you need a phone, you gotta get one from a carrier, because it's "cheap" to pay a little each month.

But in every tear down it had been proved that there is no liquid nor gas in this pipes the phones uses.

So please, share a link where i can learn that this "liquid coolers" actually works as marketed instead of been just glorified heat pipes.

Guess there's a reason it's not sold in the US and other markets. But I'm sure having bragging rights on which frequencies your phone covers extra is worth the extra $700 for people that just want a good working phone that hasn't lost touch with reality in spending that much on an expendible piece of tech

The small amount of liquid (usually helium, but can be water or other substances depending on the pressure inside the pipe) is designed to evaporate at temperatures when the phone gets hot, and as it expands down the chamber it cools down and condensates again which releases the heat over the entire heatpipe.

Just read up before dissing the brand, I know it's hard to decern between marketing crap and actual product features these days.

Huawei's anti-bootloader unlock is stupid of course, but the phone themselves have little to no problems. Sure you can't install custom ROMs, but you still have launchers to somehow improve the experience a bit. Besides, how many average consumers would be willing to take time and heavily modify their phones??
This is a big deal breaker for software developers, but these phones aren't technically made for them.

I also didn't have great experience with Asus phone (my first Asus phone being the Zenfone Max ZC550KL) but I disagree with longevity of their products. My Zenfone Max is still going strong despite being a secondary phone only, and not once does it ever felt the need of hard reset to fix major concerns in performance.

As for Xiaomi, I'm still keeping my opinions as I spend enough time with my Redmi 5 Plus, but seeing how many updates it already got within just 4 months of use, I expect to have great feedback.

The main bottomline here is that these brands offer excellent value products that are built for good.

No 3rd-party ROM will save you later in the game, Huawei now doesn't allow bootloader unlock.

My experience with Asus (in general) can only be described as "craptastic". I'm sure that phone looks great, just pray you never have to use the support -- something which happens a lot, as most of their budget stuff seems to be build mostly for appearance rather than being a long-lasting reliable product.

Xiaomi has their oddities too... having to wait 15 days before unlocking the bootloader is stupid (I know good-old "it's for your own good against the bad resellers" excuse, which is pure BS as those same resellers keep doing their shady ROM business as usual while the consumer gets double screwed with the wait time). But their phones are now quite solid while remaining cheap to buy. By the time your phone arrives Xiaomi will have launched at least 2 new better replacements, but heck... they are still great value.

as mentioned this overhyped S845-piece has not much to do wth a flagship radio-support,

A good entry level phone offers more on that:
                            the ASUS
                            ZenFone Live L1 (ZA550KL) - US
                            Android Go Editon
                            supports
                            - 10 4G/FDD-LTE Bands and
                            - 6 3G/WCDMA Bands
and that for USD 109 lol

                            POCO is very poco!

Transfer heat from the SoC to the battery seems like a horrible idea.
