Which are these 'basic features' that have been cut from this phone? Care to enlighten us?
Fast UFS storage, fastest soc available for android phones, ok camera and good accurate display. Also, it has liquid cooling and a 3.5 mm port.
For 300 USD, that is a killer deal no matter which way you look at it. Only the camera is supposed to be average, everything else is good.

this phone has cut many basic features, also most of the phones sold in 5 minutes were picked up by dealers not consumers, they sell them for a profit on websites like OLX and quikr.

Yes, some corners have been cut, but your statement is absolutely wrong on many fronts.

That's fake. Because here in India the sale was on 29th Aug @12pm on Flipkart and we the group of people tried to order as soon as clock ticked 12. And we got pop up as phone is out of stock. That means all units sold within 5 seconds! Its not even humanly possible to complete online order in 5 seconds!. We also spoke to hundreds of people across the country and every one said the same thing. Then I read the article in one of the leading Chinese media that the company is selling the product on loss and only few phones are available. It is more of a marketing stunt to attract customers towards xiaomi, Just like click bait!!

They do have impact on pricing (mainly ois, amoled, camera setup ie instead of going for tele or other, just a depth sensor & build ie plastic vs metal & glass) + extra margins of those big names.

on the other hand, you use your device on daily basis.
So having used similar range Samsung & Xiaomi devices (samsung on5, on8, xiaomi 1s, 4A, note 5 pro), one can easily notice the difference in performance, which is a very important factor. Every call, msg or anything you do, you notice it. While build quality of xiaomi devices is quite good (infact more than expected, my age old redmi 1s is still working good after several drops, cracked screen)
May be its all about margins, Samsung makes huge margins while xiaomi settle on the other side & follow different business strategy all together.

They did not choose an anodized aluminum body, they skipped IP68 resistance, they chose IPS LCD instead of AMOLED, and the resolution at Full HD+ instead of QHD+. All these would have made the phone quite expensive.
