Honestly it's crazy to say anything about XZ3 display now as it just been published not more than 24hrs ago
But logic says that the IPS JDI LCD used in XZ2 / XZ2-C & XZ2-P was amazing and near OLED quality

Shab, 31 Aug 2018Simply Sony is the best always It literally has the worst pecs than all flagships. Once again. This phone is handily beat by freaking pocophone at one third of the price. Sony is dying in phones for a reason. Only diehard fanboys buying them at this point. You can find $90 phones with more ram at this point. This phone literally holds no background apps, it is ultra slow if you are gaming because you would always have to reload new apps. Apple can get away with so little ram because it uses a sandbox OS. Android is a full OS, Sony is fooling noone...

note 9 is the same like s9+ with a bigger screen... so it will be under XZ3 of course...

OLED and AMOLED are used in area of display. OLED is short for organic light emitting diode, and AMOLED is the short for active matrix organic light emitting. So, the difference should be the with or without active matrix.
AMOLED displays have high refresh rate, but they are not well visible in direct sunlight.
OLED displays deliver much deeper blacks, OLEDs are “always off” by default unless each pixel is electrified individually.
OLED displays are insanely thin, more flexible, and remarkably small, in fact, so small they can be seen as individual pixels, millions of them which make for exceptional images
Each tiny pixel creates light of its own based on how much current is passed through it, which is the key to the OLED’s excellent picture quality. As a result, it produces perfect deep blacks to deliver accurate colors and gain infinite contrast ratio.
OLED provides exceptional contrast ratio and consumes less power than AMOLED.

I'm curious whether all of the phones used set the default video resolution (used for this test) to something less than the full capability of the screen, or if this is only a weird Samsung setting on the S9.

XZ3 has regular oled just like TV.

At night I disable auto brightness, then I set 0%.
The 100% is too bright to use at home.
I cannot look at it for more than few seconds.
I think 500 nits is good value.

I think XZ2 Premium was out because it could be identified by the 16:9 screen type.

What a joke. No scientist would conduct a test this way, they would adjust the brightness so every phone was exactly the same for a reference image.

As for OLED in XZ3, it is indeed very nice, but needs to see other 'real professional' comparison rather than this POS.

Sony has the best oled display as expected and as always note 9 wouldn't be any different from s9. so it matters little if it's there or not. Display mate should be careful not to talk nonsense this time around.
