Huawei found tampering with benchmark results, says it had to

05 September 2018
An official said competitors do it too, so the company “cannot stay silent”.

One should not believe those benchmark scores its real world usage that really matters and people should reply on their own hands on usage or watch videos and reviewers should also detail usage more than scores they should upload video or atleast explain how well or bad the phone was when playing high end games and should even try running emulators that way we the customers will know more about the product we are eyeing

[deleted post]A Snapdragon 636 is definitely good enough for normal use, but 2-3 GB RAM is rather low. A popular game like Pokemon Go would restart much too often after switching to another app and then back to the game.

Then, I cant trust China phone anymore. Huawei just said competitors do it too which probably refer to the chinese phone. Huawei world no.2 but now you just a best selling con artist. Going back to see non chinese brand like Sony or Samsung.

              Then, a few months later...

The real problem is with phone reviewers. They keep hyping numbers over actual performance. If reviewers stop placing emphasis on numbers, the manufacturers will not.

yes if you can't beat you competition join them to fool the costumers hahahahahha

A midrange phone with a Snapdragon 6xx chip and 2 or 3 GB RAM is usually sufficient for everyday use (messaging, watching videos, calls and the occasional game).

Unfortunately it's become a mindless numbers game and manufacturers are being forced to 'tweak' performance in order to get higher benchmark scores. This feels like the megapixel wars all over where in the end, a higher MP value didn't always translate to a better picture quality.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2018Do you guys still remember Samsung tampered with benchmark ... moreHuawei only wants dumb, regular users who will press "Allow" on everything that pops up on their display and will not argue with them.
Smart users actually read it, press deny, try to delete bloatware spying apps, modify the os and so on. A thing that huawei went crazy after when they found out people actually rooted their phones and changed the os. So they stop the bootloader unlocking.

                            Fun facts above huawei replicas:
                            - they LIE in benchmark scores (just like OP)
                            - they won't allow you to unlock the bootloader so you can root their phones
                            - need I say they spy on you??

Keep buying it. It's not my fingerprints and credit card details that are stolen and stored somewhere..

Did we ever trust any company? The only company we can trust is the one ruled by lord Gaben IMO!

Companies reach to an a... moreIn Sony's case, their phones are shown as being water resistant and the commercials highlighted this. It just happened that the water used in pools in Australia and New Zealand have a higher salt content than is usual in the rest of the world and that causes a degradation of the seals and corrosion of the exposed metal components.

Sony has subsequently put it on their website that ingress protection is for 'pure' water, not high salt content water.

Then again, most phones with ingress protection will suffer the same problem when immersed in salty water.
