This is Sony - the company that keeps pushing for innovation despite the prices. The philosophy of "put-everything-we've-got-in-the-next-iteration-of-our-device" earned them a place in the world of digital photography - from DSLRs to mirrorless cameras (despite the limited OEM lenses they offer). Unfortunately, the same philosophy is not quite as successful in smartphone market.

vrvly, 06 Sep 2018They should watch mate20pro capabilities if they want to kn... moreSuch as photos taken by Canon and advertised as from the phone?
Cheating on benchmarks to pretend the old cpu is not that wak?

They should watch mate20pro capabilities if they want to know how to increase sales. Huawei ads including.

I'm actually rooting for Sony to do well. I had put thousands of dollars last year in their PlayStation ecosystem alone. An Xperia could be my next phone since I can't stand Apple and Samsung.

No interest in the Xiaomi. I just never came around to buying an Xperia because they were always too pricey. Even their midrangers cost as much as a OnePlus or Xiaomi with a flagship SoC.

For me, it boils down to three choices -
                            OnePlus, Xperia, or Pixel

MSGA = Make Sony Great Again!

Too bad nobody notices Sony Xperias because they're practically niche in North America with their outrageous prices and poor relationships with our carriers.

I remember when the Xperia Z got dust/water-resistance in 2013. Didn't matter to mosr people until iPhone 7 got it three years later. I hate how it only matters when Apple does it. The innovators get forgotten while Apple fans believe Apple invented it all and the rest are the copycats. Wait when 5G only starts to matter when iPhones are finally capable of it.

AnonD-558092, 06 Sep 2018You kind of forgot that using a phone for 5 years is imposs... moreVery true, even if you buy the latest flagship the maximum support you get is barely 2 years. Take Xperia XZ for example, a phone from September 2016 won't see Android Pie, also its got 3GB RAM and at the most you can use it another year out of it but that's it.
Using an Android phone for 5 years is out of the question, newer technologies take over and by then even a new entry level Droid will be faster and better.

Can someone please explain how its 5G "ready"???

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2018Some says it is useless just because Note 9 and new iphonrs... moreWrong, as far as im aware, not networks offer 5g texh yet? So this is useless on ANY device, its just a marketing gimmick to fool the uneducated into thinking they have the latest tech, if im not mistaken SD845 with that modem cant do 5G anyhow so this is a sneaky bit of false advertising
