HTC has made many mistakes. Like the lack of jack, low screen brightness and average battery endurance.
But they also offer great stuff like audio, camera, design and speed.
Many tech sites and youtubers are biased. This happen because HTC does not sponsors posts nor gives gifts. They make people believe the phone is not good enough, then these people tell their friends, family and co-workers that other are much better.
I think it is funny when I read that Edge Sense is gimmick on U11 but intuitive on Pixel 2, despite Pixel 2 being limited to summon the assistent while U11 can do much more.
U12+ is called overprice. It has 6GB/128GB, HDR screen, IP68, slot sd card, great camera with dual selfie ( much better than Note 9), better audio than Note9 or iphone X, fast performance and will probably earn android 9 in late november.
I read this afternoon that the cheapest iPhone ( 6.1" LCD 64GB) shall cost US$900, while the Xs Max Plus 64GB about US$1150.
Soon, other brands will use same buttons of U12+, it will be called awesome. ( Htc fixed the issues with buttons already).
I am sure Mate 20 will be great. But P series and Honor are no near to be better than new Htc flagship..
U Ultra was bashed because of SD821, but P10 with weaker Kirin960 was not.

I sincerely hop... moreUnfortunately, the jack was not their biggest issue, if it had been, then they would likely be in a better position. They had undersized batteries, and low quality screens. They were the biggies. Wireless charging and the headphone jack omissions didn't help though. Shame, because their camera game was great. I'd take their cameras over anything Huawei, Sony, Oneplus or LG makes. Huawei video recording is nothing short of nasty. Id even prefer it to Samsung cameras.

U12+ has a HDR10 screen with a LCD? That bleeding is terrible and colour accuracy is one of the worst of any flagship phone
U12+ has Stereo speakers and OP6 not, you're right. But something you don't know is that the OP6 still has higher and clearer volume and crispness output.
U12+ has waterproof, yeah, so you can what, shower with your phone? go to the pool and if water damage is present warranty won't cover it. That's a mimick since nobody is willing to aventure going with it on water, many of my friends don't anyway.
U12+ has a sd card slot and that's the best feature of that phone anyway
U12+ camera is a joke compared to oneplus 6.
Oneplus didn't comit any infrigment regarding sending data, it's right when you set up your phone it's basically the first thing it tells you if you're ok to send Data or Not
People just agreed to everything and just later they knew.
Basically, it's oneplus users fault for not reading properly.
But hey, what about performance, what about battery endurance, what about the almost stock tweaked android features and what about the ultra high updates from onpleus compared to HTC?
That's what makes a phone shine, not shitty waterproofing and HDR10 codec for a LCD, that's a joke.

HTC should put themselves for sale. Potential buyers, imho, are:
1. Asus, for being a compatriot company.
2. Google, for having acquired part of HTC's assets and having long history of partnership.
3. Qualcomm, if ever they want to produce their own phone. Who knows?
Drastic situations require drastic measures.

No, please do not stop making smart phones! Change your strategy, you still can make it! HTC phones have a great built quality, and good sound quality too.

They had the best WinMo experience which was easy to Mod and personalize, coupled with great hardware and unique design.
At a certae point it seemed HTC was going to take over the world.
Here's a thought: make a SD670 device, couple it with a good screen/camera combo, price it competitively, join android one program and open the bootloader to mods using treble and you'll get the love of devs and normal users alike... sadly this is not going to happen.

I sincerely hope they will remedy their poor decisions (like removing the 3.5 mm jack) and will return to profitability.

Lets compare HTC to the unbeatable and unstoppable Oneplus 6
Even tho Oneplus is a brand not as known as HTC, their sales and profits are going up and up.
Even in terms of camera, performance, build and performance, oneplus is already way ahead.
