Apple couldn't change anything else, so they decided to change the name. lol
R comes before S. So that's probably why they named the cheapest one that.
Adding an S is typical of Apple, so no surprises about Xs.
The Max one sounds like a Chinese phone... I guess it rhymes with Xs, so they went with it anyway...

Sigh they could’ve changed the names at iPhone 11 & just complete the numerical naming at 10s (iPhone 7,8,9,Xs & Xs plus) but nooo, apple’s marketing team just had to come up with something for the sake of change.

I don't understand what is idea about Xr version. She have a smaller display than Xs Max but have the same specification also Xs. I think that this is the decision to compare with Nokia and Xiomi (6.1 and X6) (Mi series).

If the DxO review of iPhones come out today and any has more than 100, we will be sure they cant be trusted.
I doubt they would change protocol if iPhone had just one rear cam

Expect the memes today. On MacRumors, people will be underwhelmed and threaten to move to Android. By pre-order day, the Apple site will crash within seconds. By launch, people will be lining up the block for more of Apple's bread crumbs. Scalping it to eBay for profit from countries that I haven't got it yet.
Price is now the big mystery.

Hello? I got a 128 GB Essential for only $224. That should be the base models. Apple and Google will continue to use 64 GB and rip us off. I can live with 64 GB. Heck, my SE is only 32. To maintain the speed, I only use half the internal storage. Then use Google Photos for the rest or just stream. But for 4x more the price of an Essential that I got, 128 GB should be standard.

Typical of Apple to offer a choice between 64 GB or 256 with no 128 except on one of the 3 models. There was a time when you had to choose between 16 GB or 64 with no 32 GB option. Apple's whole manipulative strategy is to force customers who need more storage to pay for more than they really need instead of giving them the option to choose, and pay for, the amount they really need. A sure sign of greed as usual.
