18 September 2018
The first crop of reviews are out, but there's no consensus yet - the camera quality and battery life seem to be the most divisive issues.

Compare to other flash ship phones, these are junk, and don't mention about Apple's eco system, it's so bad that you need an app just to transfer files, junk

Dilmeet, 18 Sep 2018Apple is indeed smart in making people pay for it's ecosyst... moreWhats sad about this? Its what makes android superior.

To the comments saying fast charging kills phone batteries. I would like to disagree entirely. I have been fast-charging my phones since about 6 years now (My first QC phone was the Nokia Lumia 920, it was awesome). I've used numerous phones since then (almost all of which supported QC technology), and i always quick-charged them, never faced any issues regarding battery dying. Battery behavior remained same as people who charge with slow-chargers on purpose. So i can safely say with my own REAL LIFE experience, that it is safe to quick-charge.

The one thing you SHOULDN'T do while quick-charging is USING the phone. Just be patient and use it AFTER it is done charging. You'll be doing yourself & your phone a favor!

I mean no disrespect to those publications,
but without some objective data that can be compared to other phones their reviews aren't much useful than a personal opinion of a random person who bought the device.

Waiting for technical and objective articles like GSMarena or AnandTech or NotebookCheck etc.

AnonD-558092, 18 Sep 2018Well I can't say for sure since I don't own a OnePlus phone... moreDon't spread wrong information. Chinese companies quick charging such as Vooc, Dash or Huawei Super charge use 2 batteries in a phone and charge them simultaneously. So they can charge faster even each battery receive less ampere than other brands' normal charge.

AnonD-558092, 18 Sep 2018Well I can't say for sure since I don't own a OnePlus phone... moreAnd increasing the amperes would degrade the battery?

AnonD-558092, 18 Sep 2018Well I can't say for sure since I don't own a OnePlus phone... moreMy friend's been using the OP3 since 2 years+ with the same cable and dash charger that came in the box, and the battery seems as good as it should be in a 2 year old device.

Duel83, 18 Sep 2018Very unlikely and even If you got LG screen you won't see a... moreI was reading some articles about some iPhone models (iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus) having slower Network Connectivity than their Android Flagship counterparts.
Moreover, you read about Samsung Qualcomm Version performing better than Exynos Version in the GPU section. But Exynos Version having better Battery Life than the Qualcomm Version.
Even some Pixel 2 XL(LG Made OLED Display) reviewers have also mentioned that the much recent Pixel 2 XL phones seem to have better and more uniform screen than those from earlier batches.
So, I was a bit sceptical if Apple will give its best to these early reviewers, or sell the Samsung made display to certain countries where it will be released first. And reserve the LG made display for the rest of the masses to cut cost.

But what I can say for sure is that heat is half the problem. Amperage is also important in that equation. Which is why AFC/QC2.0 reduces Amperage from 2A to 1.67A to reach 15W of power.

AnonD-788311, 18 Sep 2018Guys.. The mistake with the Pixep 2 XL was that the tuning was poor. Hopefully, Retina isn't just marketing

To have tried it myself, fast charging isn't that harmful to battery life. It's beyond QC2.0 that the damage is significant

Now let's please ignore shameless copycats and focus on quality models that are both original and feature-packed. Yes they are becoming a rarity but they are still present.

Plus the beauty of freedom: If you hate Google, get a custom ROM! Timely updates! Freedom of doing whatever you want! Unlock features! Features that are going to be implemented in Android a decade later! No snooping at all! For the insane entry price of 0$!

Android ecosystem is so good that you can get malware from Google Playstore. Not to mention Google tracking everything you do with or without your consent. And good luck with updates.
More and more Android phones lack headphone jack (which should be killed off anyways) and SD slot, and they also often have a notch novadays.
Android does have it’s own advantages, but so does iOS. It is matter of personal taste.

What would you think would happen If the quality is worse? Huge sh*t storm. Everyone would return them.

Some companies use two different camera brands in their phones and no-one can see the difference.

Guys.. What do you think are the chances of these early Reviewers getting a (handpicked) Samsung made OLED Display and us the average customers getting the possibly inferior LG made OLED Display?

Superb models. With no particularly exciting feature or no major improvements (except perhaps the LTE speeds).

                                      "much ado about nothing"

Apple uses the same cameras hard ware since iPhone 7 Plus 2016. 12 mp and F.1.8. On 7 and 7 plus, 8 and 8 plus, on X and this year 3 phones are still using the 12 mega pix F 1.8. What Apple is doing is adding software to the phones and called it a big change.

Also the 5W usb charging adapter is $1 cost in China, and Apple use for all of its phones since 2007. It cost $20 in stores. No other phones on the planet use this 5W for their phones.
