No doubt, go for it even if you have an X. The X still get good price, and the used Xs Max will be worth a load of money in 1 year. Right now it can look like there are too many used X for sale but that will change once the Xr is out, a lot of people will be willing to pay well for a used X instead of getting the inferior Xr that will drop faster in prce. Like it or not, the Xr is the new 5c, its gonna sell well but its not gonna retain its value too well.
That said, getting a Max but not selling the X, the X will be passed on and stay in the family, its still an awesome phone and can serve us well for at least 5 more years, and still have some value left after that, lets say 250, so its 750 divided by 6 years, 125 bucks a year for a truly awesome phone is so cheap that Androiders will grind their teeth in frustration and envy. The Xs Max will not cost much more per year of ownership, its a great deal for those of us who can put the initial 1150 on the table.

I just wouldn't get an iPhone in the first place (even though I do have one, I was not allowed to get an Android phone for some reason?)

Now I get why last year iphone models were not IP68. The purpose has been to add it this year so Apple could say they have improved their phones, buy the new ones. What a cheap strategy.

The true investment is to buy much valuable things that I can use for many years than spending £1449 for an iphone xs max that will last for 2-3 years.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to my p20 pro, which was half the price and outperforms any iPhone any day of the week!!!

The word upgrade is misleading. if it is a con to mention instead of not upgrading, "No fast charging" and "lack of bigger battery" would be the top line deal breakers for me. In the era, where Apps are power and memory hungry than ever before, especially when all users are slowly progressing as power users, people deserve extra juice.

Main reason not to buy - Apple's locked ecosystem.

I am experiencing iOS "thanks" to my work (though I prefer Android as my daily driver, and only when there's no other choice I am using the iPhone) and Build wise, I love it, Software wise, there's no second that I curse my luck being stuck with a limited OS.

Yes most of that is stock compensation and a chunk of those are deferred.

AAPL has a humongous 247 billion cash pile, has close to 60 billion in free cash flow in the past year... and now raises iPhone prices across the board.

That's extreme greed. No other way to describe it.

Not gonna lie, gold color, not a really compelling reason, screen resolution isn't that impressive if your used to s9+ or Note devices, chip-set doesn't matter to the common man and the iphone 8 plus was pretty fast enough for most users.

I can also confirm this, i've been using my X without any case for almost a year, screen and back both have few very thin hair scratches from the usage and yet the camera lens is in perfect condition, with that protuding cam it should be most vulnerable for scratches right?

Every iPhone i have owned and i still have them are perfect condition from camera lens and never used any of those phones with cases either. So no Apple camera cover lens isn't normal glass, but it's not full saphire, we already knew that and neither Apple is saying that.
