Rumored says that PS5 will be released next year. But instead we got the PS Classic. It is amazing seeing old console here in present.

If you mean remaking old games to run on PS4, that is up to the game devs. But if you mean backwards compatibility, that will make PS4 a lot more expensive. PS4's chipset architecture does not support PS3 games and below. If I remember correctly, PS1 to PS3 chipsets (or chipset architecture?) were designed and developed by SONY themselves. I wish though that sony also released a PS4 version that has a separate chipset for the sake of backwards compatibility. At least those who grow up in PS environment like me has the option.

Vegetaholic, 20 Sep 2018Original still better, cause it can play any ps1 game, this... moreIt's a different market, you are talking to someone who owns PlayStation and ps one with LCD screen, full size joysticks, original sony Japanese rgb cable, Xrgb 2 plus upscan converter (cos without it,ps1 games will look very nasty as High definition TV can't handle low resolution) and around 80 ps1 games, around 10 sealed brand new.
Obviously original will have advantages and disadvantages.

PS3's architecture is based on the Cell microprocessor and the original PS3 used to have a chip that can play PS2 games but it was too expensive. The PS3 nowadays only had PS1 backwards compatibility until it's all gone for the PS4. It's nice that we had basic gaming PC-like power for $350 PS4 Pro. It's better to buy with that price than a $599 - $700 PS4 with backwards compatibility.

Atari and Sega have been making these with help from AtGames for years but, of course, since this is Sony we're talking about, y'all just love to hate double the amount. It has nothing to do with backwards compatibility. Maybe some people, in their 30s or even 40s now, want to relive some nostalgia without spending top dollar for a PS4. These mini consoles also make for a great gift so relax.

Just like not allowing cross platform play with Xbox one, they force people to buy ps4 to play with ps4 players.
