We say goodbye to the iPhone SE. Truly missed or just a nostalgic throwback to the past?

i dont use iphone but compact/small sized screen phone should stay on the market. I really hope there is small sized screen and compact android phone. My only hope is Sony but xz2 compact is thick and ugly!

How could the SE be dead if the 5s and 6 are still being sold in stores and they were discontinued years ago? It only means Apple isn't going to manufacture them anymore and sell them in THEIR stores.

You can go to MetroPCS right now and they will give you an SE for FREE. It's really $150 but will turn to bill credits. The SE will likely be updated to iOS14. How is it dead when Android phones from early 2016 can't even be updated to Pie?

Quit with the overdramatics though. We are making inanimate objects into breathing beings. I love my dog more than any of my phones. These phones will be in a landfill somewhere. Stop clinging onto them like they happen to be human.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2018Couldn’t care less if the sale of new iPhone se’s Have stop... moreWell, you can already notice the difference between an iPhone 8 and an SE, just because the SE is still faster than android flagships doesnt mean its fast in iPhone terms. Now i can live with the SE performance too of course, but its not optimal like im used to.
My biggest concern is support for future LTE frequencies that the ip8/X/Xs/Xr support, im an international person and having max connectivity everywhere matters. In 2021-22 the SE will no longer support all the common networks, some places it will happen already in 2020 and thats why we need an SE successor next September, and then i hope they also adress the less than optimal display resolution as well.

Its still super fast, amazing phone. Sure a Galaxy S9 can beat it on multithreaded benchmarks WHEN COLD, rerun the benchmarks a few times and see how the SE takes the throne.
How can the SE perform so excellent over time without heating? The chipset, it was the first cool running chipset, the 5s has similar battery but a good 30% less battery life in real world usage, and the 5s actually get noticeable warm while the SE never heats up much with normal usage.

Thos who dont see the genius of SE must be city boys living a not very outdoorsy active life. The SE is perfect for acvtivity, outdoors work, hiking, mountain climbing, pilots, heavy machine operators, car mechanics and so on. The longer 4.7 iphones are just big enough to be noticeable in pockets and damages due to bending and so on. Just try to do some lunges or squats in the gym with anything bigger in your pocket and see what happen to bigger phones, then you know what some of us experience every day. The SE need a successor, no doubt.

hey haters, search in youtube, iPhone SE vs. Galaxy S9 speed test. And check how "outdated" it really is

How could Apple just murder the most beautiful smartphone design ever in history? That’s all that has been going through my head.

Couldn’t care less if the sale of new iPhone se’s Have stopped, I’m not going to miss a phone I already have.
Apple will still support it for a while yet so I’m okay, people over exaggerate and worry way too quickly and jump on to the next fad tech gimmick whatever, if you like sticking to an older mobile great , if you like jumping to new stuff then great also..

Why the sadface? All Apple phones are retro, aren't they? With fake benchmark routines in the firmware to make them look less retro.

For a big hands user like me its like Golum: " Go Away!, And Never Come Back....." ;)

Currently using SE. It’s a great phone especially for people like me with small hands. The last great phone from Apple. Truly legendary!

I was always an Android user and the SE was the only Apple phone that got me to purchase their phone for the first time. It was beautiful phone with a headphone jack. People who think it's outdated, the CPU on it is still very powerful and can handle any mobile apps or games, last I checked the benchmark should be as good as 2017 flagship phones. Also the version with Qualcomm modem have a great lte signal capability. It's still a good phone to get if you want a solid and small device and should still be updated for at least 2 more years.

I wish there was a successor....
It's a sad day for compact lover

To me, "SE" (when it comes to phones, anyway) stands for Sony Ericsson, not "Special Edition". It forever will in my heart. I still miss Sony Ericsson even after 6 (almost 7) years, while I don't miss the iPhone SE anywhere near as much.

How about a full screen 4inch iPhone. It will be great.

The answers in the poll, makes the poll quite pointless.
The iPhone SE, upon release was ok, except for the selfie camera (not that I personally use selfie cameras a lot, but it did not fit the market). Perhaps the fingerprint reader was a bit on the slow side as well.
Now, a couple of years later, it was badly outdated. So of course the SE should be cancelled. But it should have been replaced by a proper successor, instead of just canceling it. or they could have dropped the price substantially on it.

Although I don't use iPhones , but I think it was a good balance Apple has ever made, very small thus very pocketable, A9 seems still relevant (not by much), and I don't know how the battery performs. I still remember those days that I really want to use iPhone SE deadly but can't really own it, I got myself Galaxy S6 instead.

                                    Truly one of a kind!
Now I hope that Sony continues to still make compact versions of their flagship devices, without doing anything that would really destroy their main selling point: portability without loosing a lot of great things! Sure, we would hate them for some of their stupid decisions, but it's not like they haven't done anything right, and this is definitely one of those.

I wish that some day, they'd realize and decide to bring back the iPhone 8's design as a budget iPhone, the same way they brought back the SE's design after they have made several large screen iPhones.

SE isn't dead when it will get updated to iOS14 and maybe beyond. Many stores still sell the 5s and 6 in prepaid form.

A 2018 model with A12, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage. in a 4 inch display would be very much a very welcome! I'd swap the XS for it if I Could in deciding which iPhone to get. (I can. actually. BUT THERE'S NO SE 2! ;_;)
