Agreed. Even then the performance increase isn't even useful in day-to-day tasks. Sure gaming and transcoding video from 4K to 1080p (who even does that on their phones anyways?) is faster, but other than that, it's pretty pointless.

Back on topic: Apple is so far ahead that they could simply give up on the processor and their performance would still top all other. In fact they already started. Same on adnrodis for preferring this Intel clone, Qualcomm. There were much better ones (ones that could and did compete with Apple)

Custom processor by one maker vs generic OS with customisation capabilities meant for multiple OEMs.... Android flexibility matters for the most and competitive in price.
