Apple knows more and more kids are getting richer nowadays.
Rich kids and adults always get the most expensive techs.
I'll stay with tech that still cathes up with time and save some for my kids.

Why won't recommend buying pixel 2 xl now? As there is only a month left for pixel 3 announcement, the prices are now very low at $650 for 128gb one.

This solution maybe unrivalled, idk, I hope you have a great trouble free experience.
I'm not worried about you, I'm sure you can take care of yourself.
Like yourself I was more concerned about anyone (inexperienced kids mainly, so I'm probably saying this in the wrong place) going into debt spending $1,000 to $1450 & using it as a status symbol/ fashion trend BS), when there are great cheaper alternatives available & do something extra with the money saved.
I'm sure most people here know the difference between want & need, but we do need to look out for others in our communities (in a non patronising way).
Technology improves all the time, you pay a premium for the latest & greatest which gets discounted if you can wait ;)

Besides, if other brands' smartphones are almost as good as Apple's with no essentials removed at a lower price (+ more storage), why bother spending a few more hundred dollars more on the iPHONE with essentials removed? Unless you're going for the software and the software update that's going to last for years, I don't see a reason to get an iPHONE. Like what u said, it's not about affordability. It's about spending money wisely, if they charge u more with essentials removed, u might as well go for other options

I mean these prices are insane. Only politicians, business men and filmstars buy iPhones specially the latest ones as they can afford and do not care for cheap androids as iPhones are status symbol. A OnePlus 6 costs 480$, I mean you can buy 3 OP 6 for price of XS Max and I am sure Xs does not out perform OP buy big margin. I would rather buy a 500$ phone every 3 years then spending 1500$ on a phone which I am sure wont last beyond 5 years anyways.
I do like iphones, they have great build quality and a good ecosystem of products that work great together but then paying so much is not justifiable.

Iam an Android guy, i really believe that IPhones are very expensive,but why people still buy IPhones, there are 2 types of peoples one type is Apple Fanboy who can buy that stuff just because they love company,others are the people who once used iPhone and are now stuck in Apple's ecosystem,so they are bound to pay extra 300$ instead of migrating from one ecosystem to another,and plus Android ecosystem is not that stable as compared to Apple's ecosystem,but yes Android is developed fast in all this years.

But they do buy less.
Apple might be able to keep this up just for 2-3 years more. Then they will be forced to do something about it.

no need to compare it with other mobile which one you will get with this price, regardless how expensive Iphone is it wont change, people who use to buy Iphone are happy as iphone meet their requirements and iphone perform as it is regard less it is one year or more, compare to may samsung experience after 1 year its over...performance, by the way I was iOS user from iphone 4 then move samsung note to 1 to NOTE 5 ans stop there after note 7 explosion and then move to HUAWEI MATE 9 which meet my requirement as well specially in performance of the phone and battery after 1 year the phone still perform like a new phone.

My last iPhone was an iPhone 4S. To me this was the year that Android finally caught up feature parity wise with iOS and design durability and aesthetically.
I have absolutely no interest in spending that amount, not because I couldn't, I just don't see the value equation working out for me. Someone might, but I hazard a guess they have to try really hard to find that thing that Android does so poorly to the point of switching to iOS.
Android and it's hardware is perfectly sufficient for my needs, nothing more, nothing less. Plus because I save so much money, I get the ability to justify upgrading more often, and unboxing shiny scratch free new toys.
