Glass backed phones are just as self-inflicted wound. They have been a dumb idea since they were first introduced with the iPhone 4. Using an extremely fragile material where it is unncessary, on a device whose purpose is ultimately pragmatic makes no sense.
And every phone with a glass back since the iPhone 4 has claimed it's Gorilla whatever and will be fine, blah blah blah. Then they come out and consumers quicly discover that they break all the time. These new phones won't be different.

Glass is still glass, it will still break. Manufacturers that manufacturer glass got lots of iterations one after another, the only thing I am able to notice is that the newer versions are more resistant to scratches

I understand the front/back down drops, you can't expect glasses to survive on those. But the tumble test fail is alarming. Another Oppo Find X like fail? And, you can't expect Apple to offer consolations after HW damage (the max you can get is condolence).

Apple Marketing: we use sapphire on a camera lens(scratches at the same Mohs level as any regular gorrila glass or main iPhone front glass) :), we use most durable glass on any phone (glass cracks in peaces after one big drop) :) Well done Apple, your Marketing department sure is the best :))))

Well apple way.
Instead of crampling their phone into a carbonfibre material they used the most weak material of all.
Even a plastic phone would preform better.
Nokia 5 of 2017 were most durable smartphone of 2017 and thats was a phone or just 200.
This one proven nothing just lots of lughable moments.
Hope Tim Crook is watching this so he can hit his stubborn head onto the wall over and over.
