They managed the beer dunk test, though.

Geric.770, 24 Sep 2018I am more used to on metal build phones than the glass back... moreAnd then, in their dreams... they figured how much profit they could earn through their customer service with the amazing most durable glass till the moment!!! on the front and back with a thin aluminium frame... so the HTC U Ultra was born, followed by HTC U11, U11+, U12, U12+..... God bless the glass!!!

Now ask them how many phones they sell and repair and at what price, not all potential customers are like iSheeps.

[deleted post]Hear, hear. Love that phone. Mine was called the 3360 when AT&T was still called Cingular.

    The Chuck Norris of phones!

I absolutely loathe glass backs. Apple doesn't actually soften the pain with the expensive prices for repairs.

It's easy to cover it up in a cheap case, but it eliminates looking at the design completely. Just hides it. Putting a case on is like using condoms. Not fun.

[deleted post]No bendgate. Watch JerryRigs video on it.

It's built fine, but not nearly fine enough for the price tag.

iPhones with ceramic back is never durable, look at the OnePlus X (2015) ceramic variant was so fragile compared to Onyx variant.

It may break but not like the one shown in the picture above that got totally shattered.

I've seen other drop tests and they faired better than last year's X. Still, glass is glass. That video is the only reason I need to prevent me from buying an iPhone.

I'm telling ya, the iPhone SE was the best iPhone that Apple has ever made. And the MacBook Air was the best laptop that Apple has ever made. I own both and they deserve 9/10 in everything from design and price. The MacBook Air was the last to offer SD slot, USB-A, and MagSafe. Both don't need dongles.

I love my SE and MBA. I really hope Apple copies Sony for a couple of years and goes back to a matte finish whether metal or plastic. If the Pixel 3 is all-glass, I might search for a black Pixel 2 for dirt cheap. As much as I liked the 4/4s design and S7 edge, I will never purchase a phone with a glass-back again.

This was a great and durable design - Nexus One

Thank you for that video. I don't have to waste another $800-$1000 for another new iPhone based on mostly HYPE. The best for my taste is the one I already have.

Apple never said it's unbreakable. The glass breaks and it's like a total surprise for these fandroids :D
There isn't a single glass phone which wouldn't break when dropped.
There's a difference between unbreakable and the strongest glass.

Apple executives failed to make the glass very durable.
Maybe they forgot that there would be a drop test to take place.
For marketing strategy purposes they're claiming that their glass is the most durable in a smartphone.

Well at least you get your desired premium feel with it while need to have it in bubblewrap so it wont break. :D

Hands down one of the worst upgrades in tech industry, and still some people blindly follow them. Others unfortunately are tied to the ecosystem.

You guys expected apple to break the 4th wall or something?

Doesn't matter how strong the glass is, it will break upon dropping.

This is why Glass bodies on phones is not practical. It looks great while it's fine, but one drop and it's an eyesore.
