But if that's what you want, then your mighty Samsung and Apple might as well stop buying camera sensors from Sony since they're the worst, am I right??

Samsung should stop using memory-stacked sensor because it's Sony's idea.

Samsung and Apple are almost trillion dollar companies, and they pay DisplayMate a lot of dollars for using their own name to spread false claims to consumers.

30 deg. shift: 3.9 vs 2.6 (XS Max wins) is wrong
            It should be
            White Point Color Shift @ 30 deg. : 2.6 vs 1.3 (Note 9 wins)
            Largest Color Shift for R,G,B @ 30 deg. : 6.2 vs 3.9 (Note 9 wins)
Color Shifts for Color Mixtures @ 30 deg. : 1.9 vs 1.8 (Note 9 wins)

Do not believe what DisplayMate says. I have seen several reviews and the display on the iPhone XS Max looks dull and washed out. Painfully Honest Tech

1-) The Galaxy Note9 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier Display Performance and receives All Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in All of the DisplayMate Lab Test and Measurement Categories.
2-) The iPhone XS Max delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier display performance and receives All Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in all but 2 of the DisplayMate Lab Test and Measurement Categories: Yellow (Good) in Brightness Variation with Average Picture Level (15%) that applies to many OLED displays, and Yellow (Good) in the Largest Color Shift at 30 degrees Viewing Angle (6.2 JNCD).

All the rest is fake news and BS. Brigthness peak level is NOT equal to screen quality AT ALL.

Color accurate my a$$. An OLED screen will never be Color accurate and with the note 9 you can calibrate the screen to your liking which is not the case for the iphone. DisplayMate who?

I think the 'best smartphone display' award is more like a category. They grade displays and they both achieved A+.

The iPhone XS Max display only beats the Note 9 display in 3 categories. The rest, Note 9 wins.

Here are the key figures. N9 vs. XS Max.

                      PPI: 516 vs 458 (Note 9 wins)
                      Pixels: 4.3m vs 3.3m (Note 9 wins)
Avg. reflections: 4.4 vs 4.7 (Note 9 wins)
Mirror reflections: 5.6 vs 5.7 (Note 9 wins)
Maximum possible brightness: 825-1050 vs 769 (Note 9 wins)
Lowest brightness is a tie (2 vs 2)
Dynamic brightness: 2% vs 15% (Note 9 wins)
Contrast rating: 84-236 vs 139-163 (Note 9 wins)
Colour accuracy: 0.5 vs 0.8 (Note 9 wins)
Colour shift: 0.7 vs 0.3 (XS Max wins)
30 deg. loss: 27% vs 25% (XS Max wins)
30 deg. shift: 3.9 vs 2.6 (XS Max wins)
Power draw: 1.1w vs 2.2w (Note 9 wins)

                          This is actually wrong.

Note 9 has a brighter screen, and DisplayMate even confirm this themselves. The only reason they've discounted it is because you have to enable the high brightness mode manually.

They're instead compared maximum auto with maximum auto.

In essence Apple has just left it always-enabled.

Also, on DisplayMate the JNCD is a 'smaller is better' scale, yet, Note 9 hits 0.5, whilst XS Max is 0.9. Yet somehow this is listed as 'highest'.

Great. So, Samsung's AMOLED always makes the best display for screens.
