Why should any manufacturer be worried about what scores Apple's soc is doing?
With pretty much half the scores, Snapdragon 845 is way better real world performer. Beats in speed tests. Beats in sustained GPU performance, beats in sustained CPU performance, beats in VR performance.
As for someone is truly trying to compete with Apple. No, they aren't. They are faking the competition. This is similar to selling a 300 hp V4 to a customer in garb of 600 hp V8.
Huawei boosted benchmark scores of Kirin 970 by upto +100% in certain Benchmarks. That was the extent of cheating.
And now you wish for people to take them seriously?

Fact of the matter is that Huawei has made their best chipset yet, and it is better than every chipset other than Apple's latest and greatest.
Instead of arguing baselessly, go read up on Kirin 980. Doing so will allow you to understand why it is the most advanced chipset on the Android world.

One thing that bothers me is the fact that the Android community doesn't want this to be true, since it would make the current Snapdragon SoC inferior.
Shouldn't they be happy that there's someone at least trying to compete with Apple's SoC? Also, if this turns out correct (which it is), then it would also force Snapdragon and others to catch up to Kirin, or maybe even surpass it down the road?
I mean It'll only be a good thing for the whole Android ecosystem. You should be appreciating Huawei instead of criticizing them.
As far as manipulation is concerned, Huawei has already clarified their stance on it and it's all good!

Benchmarks are useless, the main thing matters is the real life performance, which snapdragon, kirin and exynos outperforms, apples bionic chip also does great job, but look at its benchmarks and real world performance, even A12 is behind snapdragon 845 in real world...so it only matters how it performs in daily

As for Benchmarks, yes they are fake! When Huawei chief himself admitted that they are manipulating benchmarks, why wouldn't someone else call them out for it? Infact Huawei said that since everyone else is doing so, they are doing it as well!
If you know how to read, that means Huawei justified their cheating and will continue in the future to do so. Snapdragon users have nothing to be jealous about it. LoL

I like GSMARENA as a mobile news source, I really do. But I keep seeing them jumping the gun on these (often fake) benchmarks. People renaming old phones to act as an upcoming release has happened so often. And what about Snapdragon 636 being reported as a Snapdragon 660 numerous times, despite readers telling the staff that it's a bug in Geekbench. Please do a tiny bit of source criticism before you post these things, it's an integral part of journalism.
Oh and don't expect Huawei to stop cheating on benchmarks, despite them admitting to it a few months ago.
